How can I slow down clear coat peeling?
I'm kind of in a financial crisis right now so therefore I don't have the money for a new paint job on my 2000 Accord. My clear coat is is getting worser and worser every month/week. What started off as a small spot is now spreading to every other part of the car. Its like a disease
And it shows really bad because the OEM paint color is midnight black.
Anyway is there a way to slow down/prevent the process? My car is washed and waxed regularly so some other suggestion than that please.

Wouldn't sanding it take the paint off completely?? I'm not sure but isn't there a way to do remove the clear coat completely without taking off the paint.
Don't mean to hijack this thread, its just we have a '95 accord with the same problem.

If the clear coat is peeling the underlying paint is probably faded and thin too.

unfortunalty as a body man and painter i have found that honda used a very cheap clear from 90-00 and the paint is very thin under that. as for fixin it u should sand the clear with 400 wet and then use a high build primer to cover the scratches. that should hold for a while but its not a permanant fix. good luck.

But that's what a repair technician said. It can't be true!
And it's going beyond 2000 models. I've seen an Accord as new as 2004 with fading paint. You're going to have plenty of business with those.
