so i left work the other day and lo and behold! some idiot decided to smear glue all over my rear bumper. i don't know if it's epoxy or crazy glue, super glue, kung fu turbo sperm or what but i just can't get it off. i've tried goo-gone already. someone told me to try brake cleaner--but i'm kind of worried about my paint. besides taking it to a body shop, does anyone have any suggestions? thanks!
These idiots did you no favors.
I suspect that IF you were to find something to 'off' the offending "glue" (Mystery Substance), it would damage the paint as well.
If you insist on exploring the Wonderful, Wacky World of chemical solvents, I suggest picking a spot on the bumper out of site and test the stuff there first.

Obviously someone you work with. No one would go through those lengths to mess with a random car. Lay down and think about who your enemies are then go to war.
Sorry to her that man. But you can try like a tar remover for car paints. I bought one from 99cents store, and had a chance to remove a tar from my paint. Worked beautifully. It also worked on removing my friend's sticker residue cleanly. Give it a try.
there are all kinds of things that you have not tried.
Paint prep cleaner, denatured alcohol, mineral spirits, 3M, has some stuff that is called trim adhesive remover or something like that, white can red lettering.
If it comes down to it you may have to wet sand it off, then buff it back out.
