Bad oil leak!
ok so i have an oil leak on my 1988 civic lx sedan.
d15b2 engine. i took it to a mechanic and he said it was leaking
in between the engine and transmission.
and that it needed a new gasket between there.
so i went to honda to purchase the gasket.
and it turns out there is no gasket between there on
1988 civic lx sedans manual transmission.
so now i dont know what to do.
and its leaking pretty bad so help would
be greatly appreciated thanks.

Did you check it is not oil coming from the distributor seals about where it mates to the camshaft? That is, is there oil right beneath the distributor?</TD></TR></TABLE>
That could be the problem. If not then I am 99 percent sure its the rear main oil seal. I just bought one for mine. It was only like 16 bucks from honda. Advance and Autozone can order you one also. In order to get to this seal you have to take the tranny, clutch and flywheel off.

no there is no oil beneath the distributor.
a ton of oil drips where the engine meets the tranny.
so tahts the rear main seal?
aka crankshaft?

Yes, thats your rear main seal, around the crankshaft. When it fails, your only option is to full the tranny and replace it.
Cheap part, but lots of labour

if i were u i would look into replacing your clutch and or throwout bearing while u are there it would be a pitty to change your rear main seal and then have to come back and change the clutch but it all depends on how old your clutch is
yeah that is sweet right up.. not a bad do it ur self. i know it might be intimidating to take off da trans but its really no sweat.. unless u gots ef then an extra jack come in handy but save ya sum$$ and im about-about that
yea i know man.
although the guy in the write up makes it look so is.
i am still intimidated. but damn mechanics charge a grip for
labor. so im not too sure what im gonna do yet.

If it looks like its coming from the flywheel side and the flywheel is all covered in oil from the back... It looks like it leaking from the back well it probably not take you oil pan off and buy a new gasket or use some black/gray silicon and apply on the side where the rear main is and the oil pump on both sides of the gasket. Dont use to much there is a limit... this should fix it
