Anyone know if there is a way to adjust how the auto trans shifts.

 

The only adjustment is the pressure lever cable , that goes from the throttle linkage to the front of the trans.

A better definition of "SHIFTS HARD" might get you some other suggestions.
do the rpms rise way up between shifts?

If you are a first time owner, you should understand that the honda trans of those years shifts under positive pressure of the clutch paks

 

Ya I never owned a Auto before,it does not slip it just shifts really hard,it's worse when it cold and gets a little better when it's warm.I bought the car with a bad trans,I pick up aone form a JDM motor dealer and change it,just trying to see if this is normal to shift hard.

 

No, a really harsh shift is abnormal in most all circumstances.
There is an accumulator assembly:

who's job is to cushion the shift application. Perhaps you have an issue here...
