Eric Bostrom Confirms That He's Retiring To Brazil News Article // RoadracingWorld.com
Returning a phone call to Roadracingworld.com today, Eric Bostrom confirmed that he is leaving motorcycle racing and heading to Brazil to run a farm.
"I would say it is a hiatus," said Bostrom of his break from racing. "I'm putting a lot of my time and resources into this. There's a lot of incentives to invest in Brazil, a lot of tax breaks.
"It seems like there's a lot more stability down there. The stock market here is getting hammered.
"This can lead to a lot of other opportunities, things I've wanted to do like study, learn some other languages, play guitar.
"And if I get bored with this after a year and want to return to racing I think I'm still young enough that I can do it. Ben (Bostrom) has shown that you can come back and still do well."
Bostrom said that he's leaving for Brazil this coming Monday.
Roadracingworld.com wishes him well.
OR Does He?

Racer Eric Bostrom told a group of motorcycle dealership employees that he is retiring from motorcycle racing to run a mango and orange farm in Brazil, and that he may raise Tilapia fish in a lake on the property.
Bostrom made the remarks Wednesday night at a Dave & Buster's restaurant in Irvine, California during a buffet dinner hosted by Shoei for invited representatives from area dealerships.
"It was bizarre," said one attendee. "It's hard to tell if he was serious, he was pretty lit when he said it."
At post time Eric Bostrom had not yet returned a cell phone message seeking comment.

As long as Matt/Ben were on track everyone should have considered retiring....but now it may be a different story. I think he might have jumped the gun. He'll be back!
When I first started following superbikes, seemed like Eboz was getting wins on an old ZX-7R and a few times that was against Maldin on a gixxer 1000. Kawi not continuing to race superbike after the rule change to allow literbikes really screwed him, and he did okay on a Ducati for a few years. Never seemed to get that yammy in a position for wins. My guess is he would still be racing if he had a contract in front of him earilier this year. What was it '02 I think win he beat Maldin to the line, at VIR, didn't even lead a lap, just zapped him at the line, and Mat wouldn't even come to the podium to take his second place trophy.
Things more stable in South America?
Maybe I'll grow my sideburns back.
