whats upp guys! my question to the honda world is.. are all 88-91 crx front bumpers interchangeable with each other? and do i have to get a new?different re-enforcement beam for which ever front bumper it is and would the beam bolt right up to my 88 rex? thanx a lot guys. I wanna get a different look then the plain bottom black molding! HELLLP please! ]
heres the info:
all bumpers are interchangable.
heres the catch:
you need to use the bumper support and bumper support brackets from what year the bumper is from.
example:
if your using a 90-91 front bumper on a 88-89 crx, you need to use the bumper support and bumper support brackets from a 90-91 crx.
by doing this, you dont need to modify any part of your existing support or bumper to fit properly.
but the best bumper support to use is an hf model, for it is light and can fit any year bumper, but sacrificing safety and rarity for an undamaged one.

one more thing on this guys... does the 89 crx front bumper have the grooves in the bottom corner of the molding? (for fog lights)

here is the 88-89 bumper note how the bumper light is a 90-91 and does not fit w/out mods and that the owner needs to fix the lip and headlight
and here is the 90-91 bumper

the hood are interchangable through the years and so are fenders so u should not need to replace those and dont do what i did and not install a bumper support at al

another thing you will run into is that the molding wont match the rest of the car.. i agree with kojack 100%.
i had an 89 hf at one time and i wanted the 90-91 front bumper so i could use the J's racing lip and when i pulled the original bumper off there was just a small strip that bolted to the body and had the grooves for the cover 2 fit in. saves u about 20lbs but if u wreck... ur s.o.l

true fact about the moldings. same with the rear bumper, thin moldings, and has that little lip like flare on the bottom.
but ive always wondered, just havent tried, will a 90-91 side moldings fit on a 88-89 and will the clips line up? i noticed that the grooves where the moldings would go is the same height.
88-89 side modlings:

yea theyl line up.. one thing i noticed about say.. si moldings are really wide.. hf modlings are narrow but not narrow enough for the 90-91 bumpers.. but when u take the moldings off, they interchangable.. i changed mine out cause it was buggin the hell outtta me

the headlights wont work.. on the ef8 they are longer, plus instead of the 2 bulbs ul have just 1.. my friend just did an ef8 front end and i believe that the maouting piece is almost like that of an HF..

damn! i already bought some projector headlights with new amber corners for my 88 rex.. looks like they're for sale now! haha. so i can only use the jdm headligts now? and what am i gonna have to do as far as the wiring for the lights? and either way i'm going with onex hid headlights so if that changes anything! and which other bumper support can i use other then an hf?
and thanx again Dohced!
