Replace that lower bolt while you're at it. Prevent it from happening in the furure at a really lousy time. One time that happened to me after taking my car out to a meetup... the power steering was loose because I missed tightening it down. I was pulling out and SSSCCCRRREEEEEEEE went the ps system. Embarrassing as hell. I popped the hood, gave a few turns to the wingnut on the pump and left feeling like a retard. lol

This was the case with my 95 Ex. The crankshaft pulley was spinning on the crankshaft. Might wanna look at the pulley as well.

maybe try not loosening the adjustment bolt all the way. That way when you push the alternator tight and then release presure it won't go back to the original position. Or just get your dad to help you.

^^^ LOL ... I'm 28 and my dad is across the country. I'm wondering if my problem is with the bearings in the alternator or that it has aftermarket pullies. It's got new belts too. ARGE

there is one stud at the bottom of the alterador. its a stud and on the other side its a nut. loosen that and see if you can pull the belt back.

but seriously man, if you dont want to worry about that problem for a GOOD while. just go down to autozone, or kragen and get a new belt. that happend to my car just yesterday. i got tired of it the first day, so i went to the store and got the belt and doesnt do it anymore.

Has anyone seen that Insurance add on TV for extended warranty for your car. They show a car making a gord awfull noise and say it's the alternator, sounds like the pistons fell out to me.
Either way, no alrenator I ever saw/heard made a noise like that car.
