If its the w-7 13 model. Then stick with that. It will out perform the cheap sony units. You might not have the right power or enclosure for the jl
the jl thumps realll hard i just didint kno if two subs were better then one lol. but from what people tell me JL are the best you can get

Exactly! There's a reason they're buy one get one free. Which JL 13 do you have? Depending on the amp and box type you currently have you might be able to do more with the system as is or add another jl 13.

It's probably the 13w1v2-4. That sub can handle 350watts RMS. You amp does 340watts RMS at 4 ohm(sub is 4 ohm). If you want louder then you would either need to get all new stuff or (and this is difficult) find subs that require less than 250watts RMS a piece(SVC 4 ohm each) and will fit the new box volume. Spending a few hundred is your only way up. Or buy used and sell what you got. Just some ideas. G/L

i have a older JL 12w3 powered by a 400 w pioneer amp got the combo at a police auction for $60 . and it blows away any of my friends cars. one friend has a Alpine type R. another has Memphis 15 and the JL SQ is way above both of them
stick with JL. Its the only brand Ill swear by. If you are not happy with the sub, try tuning the box, or getting a JL amp. If it's a w7 13 get the 1000/1. also check your current amp setting. what kind of amp do you have now. and is it a JL box?
