Default JL 13" or two sony XPLOD 12"

i have a JL 13" in a ported box in my accord now but one of my buddies moved to florda and gave me a mtx bandpass box that fits 2 12" subs. my question is do u think i should keep the JL i have now? or get 2 sony xplod 12"? the xplods are on sail at circuit city for buy 1 get one price. not sure if the sonys in the bandpass box will hit harder or if its a waits

If its the w-7 13 model. Then stick with that. It will out perform the cheap sony units. You might not have the right power or enclosure for the jl

the jl thumps realll hard i just didint kno if two subs were better then one lol. but from what people tell me JL are the best you can get

sony xplod's are pretty close to the worse subs you can buy. do not get them

Exactly! There's a reason they're buy one get one free. Which JL 13 do you have? Depending on the amp and box type you currently have you might be able to do more with the system as is or add another jl 13.

stay away from the sony but if moneys a issue if you build the right box that sony wont sound to bad ... But i love some JL

i have a TMA 500 watt amp and im really not sure what kind of JL i have but the JL in the ported box was like 300 but even with that small amp it still hits hard

It's probably the 13w1v2-4. That sub can handle 350watts RMS. You amp does 340watts RMS at 4 ohm(sub is 4 ohm). If you want louder then you would either need to get all new stuff or (and this is difficult) find subs that require less than 250watts RMS a piece(SVC 4 ohm each) and will fit the new box volume. Spending a few hundred is your only way up. Or buy used and sell what you got. Just some ideas. G/L

thanks alot guys, im stickin with the JL. i have heard from alott of people that the XPLOD subs really do explode so im going to stay away from them

i have two 8" jl w-7s in my hb, those subs are the best investment i have ever made in car stereo. stick with jl!

i have a older JL 12w3 powered by a 400 w pioneer amp got the combo at a police auction for $60 . and it blows away any of my friends cars. one friend has a Alpine type R. another has Memphis 15 and the JL SQ is way above both of them

stick with JL. Its the only brand Ill swear by. If you are not happy with the sub, try tuning the box, or getting a JL amp. If it's a w7 13 get the 1000/1. also check your current amp setting. what kind of amp do you have now. and is it a JL box?
