Default Two 10s or One 12?

I got a choise between one JL audio 12" in a JL box or two JBL 10s in a regular box, which would sound better (I have a amp for subs and amp for fronts + rears.

JBL is certainly not cheap at all. a friend of mine still have a GTi from WAY back that would be able to take many subs from today's world in SPL.

anyone seen the BL curve for the W-GTI (forgot what its called)? flat curve except near 0 displacement where it has a dip. adire, JL, and JBL found ways to make the BL curve flat using different methods. i gotta hand it to them. they did their homework.

i always knew JL abd JBL had something in common exept for j and l, lol
i get good deals on used jbl amps so ill be running them for while, JL subs are killers though so no competition from jbl in that department i guess?

absolutely no point to this post, im toasted and trying to sound intelligent, i am going to go and change my usernae and signature now

yeah when i used to have a pretty small system in my car (2 jl 8's powered by 1000 watts in a crappy plexiglass box, bought off a friend for 100 bucks) it still hit harder than hell. i was beyond suprised. JL knows what they are doing for sure.

JL amplifiers are pricey because they are the only ones that make amps as advanced as they are with patents. So in other words, you're never going to another amp like the JL series from another company. Jl amps are some of the cleanest amps you will ever find, and definitely some of the most powerful. And for the JBL enthusiast that said an old school GTI would take on a lot of the newer subs...makes you wonder why none of JBL's products are used in world finals competition if they are so great. Try putting the JBL 600.1 in your car, and then have them replace it with an mTX 500D and see if you don't hear the difference.

whoa there buddy. never claimed the JBL to be the best of the best. it would hang with many subs today in SPL, not necessary subs like the DD9500-series, Treo CSX, JL audio W7, etc. mind u the JBL i'm talking about came way back from about 1990. thast over 13 years so. for the driver that it was back then, it was some of the best subs. 13 years later, the W7 wouldn't get much praise because times go by and new technologies are implanted to make them better. just 2 years ago i believe, the highest xmax rating of any sub dumaxed verified was the audiomobile mass i believe. just a tad over 20mm and now subs are over the 35mm mark. back then 20mm was something, today its still impressive, but not the best. get what i'm trying to say?

try putting the jbl 600.1 in my car? i use to have that amp before i bought my directed 1100d. sound any different? sure it does. thats because the JBL was empty in the feature department while DEI was packed full of it.
