need help installing new clutch master cylinder
I got the old one out but the directions that came with the cylinder said I need to bleed the cylinder before installing it, and I am assuming I will have to again bleed the system after installing, the problem is, I don't really know how to bleed anything so if someone could give me directions that would be great
by the way it is an 01 that I am working with

stab it a few times with a knife, and itll bleed.
but ill say go ahead and install the new master cylinder without "bleeding" it beforehand. never heard of that before.. then after u have everything installed correctly, follow this procedure-
on the slave cylinder there will be a bleeder valve.
1) close the bleeder valve
2) pour in brake fluid into the master cylinder
3) open the bleeder valve
4) pump the pedal a few times until brake fluid comes out without any bubbles, should be a clean squirt of brake fluid with no air.
5) make sure there's brake fluid in the master cylinder at all times
6) since u wont be able to judge, ill say that u need 80 pumps of the pedal while keeping the fluid topped off to bleed it fully.
7) after pumping 80 times, hold the pedal down to the floor.
8) close the bleeder valve
9) slowly lift the pedal off the floor
10) top off the brake fluid if neccessary
11) clean-up
12) paypal me 40 bucks for writing that out step by step to you
13) proceed with the beer

but when you say pour brake fluid into the cylinder you mean into the reservoir right?

I have always had trouble when installing and bleeding the clutch master/slave system.
The thing that has worked best for me is to get a vaccum bleeder like for brakes and do it from the slave. Just make sure you always have fluid in the master.
I would usually do a combination of the vaccum bleed and traditional bleeding until it felt good.
I hated bleeding the clutch and the lever falling to the floor.

what I did when it came time to bleeding the clutch master cylinder was I bled it from the slave cylinder. I bought one of those those cups with a a couple of vacuum tubes for bleeding brake calipers. I filled the cup a quarter of brake fluid, stuck one end of vacuum tube to the bleeder valve of the slave cylinder, and the other end of the tube to the cup, and started the bleeding procedure. After a decent amount of pumps, you should be getting fluid going through the bleeder valve.
