Questions about b16a2 into 97 dx hb (clarification)
"I was the one who put the B16A in the '97 hatchback and here are the facts:
A late model B16A and B18C have identical motor mount hardware.
There are five (5) engine mounts in a 5th and 6th generation Civic.
In regards to the upper driver-side mount you will use the stock Civic mount.
The lower A/C bracket/motor mount, is the same on Civic and Integra.
For the lower front transmission mount you will use the factory rubber mount on the chassis and a late model Integra mount ($65) on the transmission.
The factory Civic upper transmission mount will bolt directly to the transmission.
Here's the tricky part. Unless you order an OEM Civic SiR/Vti mount from Europe or Japan (about $130 + shipping), you'll need to use a late model Integra rear transmission/motor mount ($110) and cut it shorter by approximately 1.5" redrilling the mounting hole. A friend made ours in a couple of hours with a plasma cutter and drill press.
You will also need a late model Integra shift linkage, including the shift rod and torque rod.
The last mechanical parts you will need are late model Integra axles and an intermediate axle shaft.
The rest is electronics and thats a whole different story."
^ ^ ^ ^ I gaffled this from hybrid.perf.org ^ ^ ^ ^
Is this true for the most part? I ask because I cannot seem to grasp the fact that I would need to use integra mounts on a civic. The engine came out of a civic with the same chassis (seemingly); why would I not just get si mounts all around? I greatly appreciate your help. Now take a holier than thou attitude and lay it down for me
If you could direct me to other resources for the swap I would become quite jubilant.

I have done several of these swaps and the rear trans mount you can use the 99-00 Si mount and it is oly $45 to $50 from the Honda dealer and they usually have it in 2 days.
edit: nevermind, that site is gone.
Just get all the Si mounts that you can. If you need some, I have a full set of Si mounts.

The thing is, that's the last thing that you want to do. Even though you have an OBD II ver.2 motor, you don't need to convert your car/ecu to that OBD in order for it to work right.
The easiest thing you can do is run a 96-98 Ex harness then get a Skunk2 conversion harness. Run an OBD 1 computer. You'll gain more from your mods and have to deal with less emissions stuff if you do that.
The 99-00 Si ecu is junk anyway. And you can't run a 98 ITR ecu because you'll get a code that won't go away.
So, in closing,
96-98 Car + 96-98 Ex engine harness + Skunk2/Kenji harness + Chipped OBD1 Ecu= Good times.

I was under the impression that OBD-1 engines in OBD-2 cars would not pass emissions; is this true with OBD-2 engine > OBD1 harness in a OBD2 car? If I went that route I could just go ahead and buy a hondata unit...
