speaker static above volume 24
just installed a new jvc kd-hdr1 deck.
had a problem with the yellow 12v constant not getting power, think it might be grounded out. so i took the pwr straight from a 12v white wire under the dash harness. i tested it and it is a 12 constant. the radio works fine, but i can start to hear some static come in around 22-23 then about 24-25 it gets bad.
The 12v wire at the radio harness tested about 1.5v, when clicking the key forward the voltage would go up about .5 a volt a click. i was trying to trace the 12v wire from the radio harness (white-blue) to under the dash and test it in certain places. i severed the wire under the dash, before it got to a fuse block plug, and ran the radio wire straight to it. the wire tested with a clean 12v so i figured it'd work. The pwr light came on the radio, but it clicked repeatedly and never powered on.
not really sure what to do from here, maybe another pwr wire is bad. it's getting chilly out so im done messing with it for today.

You need to ground the radio to the car chassie. The ground in the radio harness is tied into many other things that can cause noise. Run your 12v battery and radio accesories straight from the car harness.
messing around with it i found out my front right speaker is causing the problem i think. when the volume is faded to the back 1/2 way, 3 clicks on jvc, the static problem goes away. when i focus the sound on the front right only, the speaker produces a vey low 1/4 volume noise with a lot of hiss.
what confused me is when the balance/fade is normal the hissing/static/popping sounds to be on all speakers. im going to try hooking to a new speaker first and see if that solves the problem, if not im going to have to rerun the speaker wire.

yea, if i have to rerun wire im not even sure how im gonig to get through the door grommet/channel rubber. maybe i can tape the wire to a metal rod and push it through i dunno.
i couldnt find another speaker to test. when i unhooked the speaker the static problem went away and the tweeter in that door sounds fine. what would that mean?

Swap the left and right speaker, if noise fallows speaker, the speaker is toast, if noise stays at same location you have a wiring problem or more likely a HU problem, switch the speaker wires at the back of the deck, if noise stays on same side, wiring is the problem, if noise fallows the rewire, the HU is the problem.
As mentioned you should ground the HUs chassis to the cars chassis and get the HUs constant power directly from the batt.
Your radio harness constant power fuse is in the engine bay fuse box, probably a 7.5A fuse marked back up.

if you had to do that, it's not hard at all on a honda. def easy stuff. now, a ford, mazda, etc, with a molex connector? different story

When you have a shorted speaker, the amplifier will often sound like it is clipping on all channels, but the problem will go away when fading/balancing away from the shorted speaker.
My guess is it is either the speaker, terminals or terminals tinsel leads touching metal, or a short in the wiring into the door. Try what fcm mentioned with swapping speakers. Also try to remove the speaker in question when it is playing/clipping, if it doesn't change that rules out a short due to speaker mounting.
