Default 91 Civic DX Shift interlock help

So, now that' it's gotten colder in Ohio I've noticed that in the mornings I can't remove my key from the ignition after stopping the Civic.
I have to smack th3e shifter forward until I hear the shift interlock click, and the "P" lights up on the dash. Then I can remove my key.

Suggestions?

The trans is in park, the pawl is set, it's just not lighting up the dash indicator and releasing the key. I imagine it's either the NSS or a simple linkage adjustment. I'm leaning toward the linkage needing adjusted, if I could push the shifter another 1/4" forward it would work every time.

Give me some ideas, I'm not opposed to just disabling the interlock all together. I won't ever sell the vehicle and I'm the only person that drives it.

brilliant, those were the pages I need out of the service manual!

I appreciate it. Looks like i'm doing an upper balljoint and fixing the shift interlock this weekend.
