spark plug replacement - NGK Coppers? DIY guide?
I am looking at replacing the sparkplugs in my 2000 Accord SE 5mt. I noticed that they should be changed at 168k km, and in looking through the car's records, I do not see them ever being changed.
Can anyone here advise what the NGK V Power copper part # is for the F23A1/A4 motor is? NGK's site isn't listing it for me when I search by vehicle.
Is anyone here running Copper V Powers without issue? I ran V Powers in all of my older VQ powered Nissans without any issue, even though the factory reccomended platinums. The only drawback is they require frequent replacement (every 30k or so).
Also how do I figure out if my car is an F23A1 or F23A4? My understanding is that the A4 is an ULEV motor.
EDIT: Does anyone have a DIY guide to replacing the plugs, or is it pretty much straight forward?
Thanks

Okay so I looked up the 99 Accord with the F23A1 motor, and it appears to have a copper listing on the NGK site - part # ZFR5F-11.
This brings me to my next question - why are coppers reccomended for the '98-'99 but not the 00 and newer? I find it hard to believe that anything really changed in the motor between 99 and 2000...the only thing I can think of is that Honda was trying to do the customer a favor by reducing service intervals, and become more competitive with other makes.

If you are going to replace the plugs, you might as well replace the spark plug wires too. Also, stick with NGK's. Whatever you do don't buy Bosch Plugs. They don't perform well on Hondas or domestic cars. I learned the hard way on a Mercury Mystique, and it caused a check engine light. I replaced them with the stock plugs, and it went away.

I use the copper V powers in my F23 A1 and change mine about every 50,000 miles maybe more, with no problems at all. My mpg is good, and my wires are even the factory originals ( they test fine at the store) Go ahead and use the V powers. relax have a beer!
