Hey fellas,

I need your help, I have a 1991 CRX si with B16 engine. I am going to start ordering my motor parts this winter and could use some help.

For those who have boosted, what is the best valvetrain to use.

I know supertech is not that bad but I was thinking about running either a skunk2 valvetrain, toda or brian crower.

Of those 3 what would you use?


For a quicker spooling turbo that is capable of 350-400 whp what would you guys run. I may run the 1.8 crank to help things out a bit but not for sure yet.

Personally I like both skunk2 and BC. I haven't ever used supertech, but I've heard good things about them. As far as turbo recommendations go I would suggest a BB T3 60-1 if you have that kind of cash. I'm aslo sure you will get plenty more suggestions on turbo applications from other users. So take them all and do your research.

It's really going to depend on what type of cams you run, potential HP, and potential rev limit.

I really like Ferrea, Supertech is great too

 

For 350-400whp, PM TheShodan about the Silver Surfer. It'd be the perfect turbo for your application. It was actually designed for the exact power goals you want and it was built to fit easier in an EF chassis. Its basically a small, yet still very efficient 60-1. Its definitely worth checking out

 

for a 350-400whp build we typically build a shortblock with stock sleeves, with upgraded pistons and rods(wiseco, cp, arias, JE, etc. all good) eagle rods. as for the head many choose to stick with the stock head, but for most builds our customers choose supertech at our recommendation(good quality at a good price aka best bang for the buck). cant go wrong with ferrea as recommended above. if you are running aftermarket cams obviously the valvetrain requirements might change.

a 57 trim would be a great choice, or a gt3076r if the budget allows. the gt3076r would allow for a quicker spool, and more power at the same boost levels.

 

Gt3076Rs are nice, but unnecessary. keep it simple if the budget allows.
