My sisters car has been jerking and not shifting properly so we looked under the hood and found the dipstick for her transmission half way out and bent as you can see in the pictures.It looks like it got jammed in a gear or something.The car still drives just jerks and doesn't shift properly(may be due to it being very low on transmission fluid at the moment).Does anyone have any idea about what could have caused this?

 

We filled the tranny fluid back to normal and now its shifting properly and is no longer jerking.Does anyone know what happened to the dipstick?

 

yea someone tried to check the tranny fluid whith the engine running, and the honda manual explicitly says that you must check it with it off. it can get munched int he gears, and then no longer fits properly in the trans

 

No one checked it with the engine running as far as we know.But maybe someone did...

 

possibly someone checked it and did not put the dipstick in all the way and rad fan chewed it
