i would go for the SOHC Vtec ZC they are cheap and make decent power. but the Stock Si motor isnt that great

please obviously both of you have built both boosted and all motor d16a6's in your past. to justify why you guys are saying the a6 & (sohc zc non vtec) isnt a good platform to build on. so please tell me why your opinions are true.

Classdork, YES, it is a considerably good upgrade, especially if the engine is already good and together, so you can just swap it in without any kind of rebuilding. The biggest difference will come if you can get the Si transmission as well. Good luck, and put your question in the post title, it helps people search in the future.

stock for stock yes the vtec motor makes a little more power, but built to the hilt, it doesnt matter, but the vtec heads stock flow a lot better than the A6 heads, but A6 heads can be ported more than the z6 or y8 heads. its all personal preference, iv owned both turbo z6 vitara builds and Built forged A6 builds and the only thing i really noticed is the car with the stock z6 head made way more power than the stock A6 head but ported, it doesnt matter, accually the non vtec might have flown better after it was ported

i dont mean to thread steal but can anyone tell me if the d16a6 would be a good fit in a 86 hf? i have the chance to pick up a straight body one for 500 bucks it just doesnt have a motor. i dont want to spend to much and that motor seems pretty legit. thanks

It wont swap straight in to an 86, the mounts are different. There is an early Integra motor that will go in. Try the old-timer board here: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum/106
