Default New DA Owner - Need some Input

^^

Just bought a 93 GS Hatch with an Auto... Couldn't beat the price. Car is pretty outstanding, other than the previous owner thought the poor a1 was thirsty...

Long story short I'm in search for a replacement, or swap. The purpose behind this car is mileage, as my WRX likes 93 more than I like sex... And I should probably attend classes..

I've laid out my options, and currently they suck. NO I don't want a C series engine.

Either replace the B18a with a A or B shortblock and go on with life and hate driving an auto. Find a LS swap with an mt and spend way to much money..

Option C (my personal favorite) F22B1 Accord EX Sohc with an EX trans and Explicit mount kit.

Before you naysay, I've done 3 H/EG/EJ1 Swaps now and getting fairly good at it. Inline four sells my pedal set for a hundo and a clutch cable for pretty cheap.

I made 2 of the 3 harness' for the H swaps, so that is not an issue... The issue is I want this done for less than $750 (keeps me under 1k total) $300 if I keep the auto.

How do the F/H's fit in the DA's? The engine bay sux ***** for room. I'd love (x4000) to keep PS and A/C, this possible with the F swap?

I did some checking and I do believe with the EX/LX (same other than 4th) gear ratio's I'd actually get better mileage with the F, I'm thinking around 10-15% better. As the accord ratios are actually longer than an LS trans.

My overall Goal is 35mpg (total average) and keep the tag under $1200.

Rebuilding may/may not be an option as I have only started tearing things appart, and judging by the severity of the clunk, I think a rod came appart, which means there is a strong chance of a ruined block....

i doubt it considering the mounts alone are going to run like 400+ bucks and unless you get the motor and trans for under 600 no discounting the ECU, new header, aftermarket traction bars since the h/F header won't clear the stock cross member, i doubt you can do it for your budget

my opinion is to buy a b20 block and use the pr4 Intake manifold and call it day

Rebuild maybe out of the question... Rod in #1 is definitely broke, so I don't know what kind of damage it done to the block/crank yet... We'll see
