$3500 to spend on my bike....what would you buy?
I probably won't spend it all, but I'm trying to decide what the best bang for the buck would be.
Currently I'm pretty set on the following:
New gloves as mine have holes in the them from the get off.
Vortex / Woodcraft rearsets
CRG / Pazzo levers
Some sort of slip on - maybe a high mount shorty Mircron?
Due to the wreck I have to replace the pegs, levers and exhaust - everything else is cosmetic.
Might get a new windscreen as mine is kind of scratched up...or I might just sand mine down and paint it black??? Anyone ever do this?
Might get some tank grips. New hand grips. Replace the bar ends with blackones. Need one frame slider puck.
Even if I get all of the above I should still have at least $2000 to spend, thinking about:
Rear shock /spring.
Front fork springs and a revalve.
Steering stabalizer.
Stainless steel rear/front brake lines...or at least front lines?
I currently have Pirelli Diablo tires with maybe 2500 miles on them in pretty good shape - is there a tire out there that is much better that would be worth dropping a few hundred on?

forget the levers, get the rearsets, do suspension work, ss front lines, stabalizer, track the bitch

I was "tracking the bitch" when I wrecked it and I have every intention of tracking it more once it's back up and running, hence all the performance parts rather than replacing the rashed plastics.
The front brake lever is snapped - so at minimum I need to buy a stock/used front brake lever but I figure for another $125 or so I can get pretty adjustable levers so why not?

sorry to jack your thread but if I HAD $3500 i'd build the engine on my 900, bore it out to 997, cam it up, p/p the head it would be a MONSTER. My mechanic said it would make my Repsol jealous, 180 rwhp!!

Worth every penny... Suspension with a real tech setup for you is the best thing you can buy for your bike .... with rearsets lol

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Suspension
This is what I SHOULD have done, but didn't.

id save as much as possible and work on the suspension like previously mentioned
and ss lines if you need em.
if its a track bike you dont need to spend 10x as much on levers. it doesnt have to be pretty
same goes for rearsets, just get rearset riser plates. They do the trick just fine

send your forks out to Race Tech. Theyll build them custom to your weight then find someone in your area who can adjust your sag and rebound for you. Vortex rearsets are def worth it for a track bike like yours. Esp on an F4i which has low pegs for a crotch rocket. SS make the brakes touchier. WAY more responsive but you can [freak] yourself up with them if youre not careful. They make endos a lot easier tho lol. Stabilizer is def worth its weight in gold. Anyone who has experienced tank slap would agree. And as for tires I have Michelin Pilot Powers and I fkn love them. Ive had a few different tires and these are def the best. Never ridden on Pirellis tho. If I had the extra cash like you do I would have gotten the dual compound Pilot Powers. Theyre a harder compound in the middle so it doesnt wear out as fast for street riding but still soft on the sides for turns. Guess its not worth it for a track bike tho.
SS lines aren't even entirely necessary. Put some decent HH pads on there and you'll feel the difference. Get rearset risers or aftermarket rearseats and some decent tires and you'll have a much more capable bike.
buy used rear shocks on ebay....save $$$$
And I'm not sure if i understand this thread. You collected insurance money on a track bike?

also SS are necessary for sure! they greatly reduce fade and increase feel. for the $$ with aftermarket pads are a great investment for any track bike...rubber lines are ****.

If you're are looking for an Ohlins triple clicker in good condition i might have one for sale...

Didn't used to be a track bike.
Took my bike to a track day, lowsided around a turn, called my insurance company and explained to them what happened and they said they'd cover it. There were instructors on the track, class room time between each session, no lap times and no winners/losers. Basically as long as it wasn't a race they cover it.
Totalled the bike out for $5000, bought it back for $3500 and now am in the process of fixing it.

I would spend the minimum to fix the bike and then spend the rest on racing/track schools. Otherwise, I'd have a nice, pretty bike, and I'd still suck at riding fast.
A triple-clicker is low and high-speed compression and rebound (bleed) adjustable shock. I assume it's not an Ohlins TTX.

What most of you don't seem to realize is that I'll still be riding this bike on the streets. So while I'm not overly concerned about it looking "beautiful" I don't necessarily want it to look like a piece of **** on two wheels.
Regardless, thanks for the advice so far!

Well then maybe the minimum involves new fairings. I don't see why you need a new rear shock, new exhaust and a steering stabilizer. That doesn't make the bike look any less rough (if it is indeed all rashed up) and won't make you anywhere near as fast as a couple of good racing schools. Sounds like you just want to mod it.
Edit: My bad, I guess you never mentioned that you want to track the bike so I took a few liberties there.

Triple adjustable with twists of a click. It's better than a penske and will cost less than 750

I can sand and paint the fairings for $100 myself - I've done it before and it came out fine so I'm not willing to drop $500+ on a set of cheap plastics.
I do want to track the bike, just not necessarily make it a track only bike.
A new exhaust will definitely make the bike look better as mine is currently mangled from the low side - not to mention I fear for the stability/safety of it. Can't really be riding around a track and have my exhaust fall off or loose pieces on the track.
As far as a stabilizer / rear shock I was thinking this would make for a more capable track bike and/or a better platform for me to use to work on my riding skills at the track. However my point in asking was to get input from those who might have good knowledge of such things to let me know if this would be beneficial or not.
Riding around the track I know I wasn't going as fast as that bike could go, but I was also starting to feel like I was pushing the limits of what that bike could do. My thought was simply to make sure the bike had enough potential that I wouldn't make use of it's full capabilities in the next track day or two.
