Dunlop Qualifiers - Rate It
Im looking to buy a new rear tire.
I called the local bike shop and they have some Qualifiers instock.
Just curious what everyones thoughts are on these tires.
I was gonna go with some Pilot Powers, but since they arent in stock, ill prolly just wait till next time and get both the front in the rear.
But, before i buy the Qualifier i just wanted to see what everyones thoughts were on this tire.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Dunlop Qualifiers - Rate It (Gizmo)
Just try em. They are Dunlops answers to the PP and everyone I know who has tried them likes them the same or better. I am a pilot power fan myself and will eventually try them. Right now I'm using the Dunlop 208GP's (soft/ soft) but I want to go back to a true high performance street tire so I don't get too spoiled.
...and x2 on maintaining same tire front to back.

I had them, they don't last as long as pilot powers, and they don't take heat cycles as well, but they grip the same. I would go with PPs personally. And I work for dunlop so that's saying something

My only experience is with the '06 Qualifiers and Bridgestone Battlax. I don't ride hard enough to get the full use out of the tires, but wear and softness are both up with the Qualifiers.

Re: Dunlop Qualifiers - Rate It (Jasper_db1)
they came stock on my bike (06 R6), i've went through 2 sets of them and then tried the Michelin Pilot Powers. i'm never going back to the dunlops, they greased up alot more and wore out alot quicker then the michelins. just my .02 on the subject.

Re: Dunlop Qualifiers - Rate It (life sux die)
I need a new rear tire on my 07 GSXR600, my bike has 5600 miles on it and the center of the tire is almost bald due to this being my dd and mostly highway ridden, I can get a lightly used dunlop qualifier that they used on a track, has like 85-90% tread left over for $100 or brand new for $168. What do you guys think?

take off? whats that mean? nah its only the rear tire, the $100 includes mounting and balancing

Take-offs refer to tires that are used on the track and are typically no longer useful because of the high amounts of wear on the sides of the tire. It should be fine for commuting, but not for $100.
If you throw in mounting and balancing, then it might be ok. Is that for loose mounts (taking the wheel off on your own and bringing that in) or for riding the bike in?

Re: (marmaladedad)
I'm not totally sure, but Cycle Gear will have these on sale soon. I think $180 for a set, plus install of course.
I've heard good things about the Qualifiers, but I like my Pilot Power 2CT's

i'll be riding the bike in so they'll do everything.

Re: (youradhere)
I am currently riding a 208 from the cyclegear deal 160 shipped for front and rear.
They grip pretty well, but for overall performance, from what I have heard, pirelli super corsa III

I had 'em, didnt like 'em. Front end felt vague and warm up time wasnt as good as pilot power or corsa III's. Grip was still there though.

I guess that's not toooooo bad. Some shops charge upwards of $45 for one wheel if you ride the bike in.

I've noticed that on the 208GPA's. Must be a Dungflop thing.

I really like my BT002RS compared to the BT014. I haven't tried the 002's on the track to compare them with the Qualifiers but judging from the increased front end feel on the street, I think they'll be just fine.

yeah, if i wasn't in love w/ pirellis i'd want to experiment w/ the sportmaxx dunlops, but i cant argue w/ 5 trackdays on the same set of supercorsa's that i picked up as race takeoffs in the first place...

Re: (bad-monkey)
I was doing some reading on the WERA forums, and they say the bridgestone DOT rears arent very good - I never found a problem with them last weekend I could pin it open as soon as I started to stand the bike up and the tire always hooked up.
