Default MARRYING THE ECU??

DO YOU HAVE TO MARRY THE ECU WITH THE MOTOR?? I WAS TOLD THAT YOU WHEN YOU PUTTING A NEW ECU THAT YOU HAVE TO MARRY WITH THE MOTOR BEFORE IT WORKS PROPERLY. IF SO, HOW DO YOU MARRY WITH THE MOTOR?? I HAD A POA RUNNING MY H22 MOTOR FOR A MONTH BEFORE I FINALLY GOT A JDM P13. AND NOW WHEN I PUT THE P13 IN ITS NOT WORKING RIGHT. SO I WAS THINKING IT WAS BECAUSE I DIDNT MARRY THE ECU WITH THE MOTOR. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD HELP??

The nuptuals start with the first cycling of the cooling fan(s).
It's a proceedure more commonly known as "Re-Learning" the ecm.
Think of it as the initial post cycle your computer goes thru, inquiring to all the periferals - checking perameters and loading the drivers; only this time it's your car.
Usually it's no more than starting the car and allowing it to idle until the coolant fan cycles (everything warms up)

Exactly, all you do is clear the ECM memory by pulling the back up fuse for several seconds and re-inserting. then with the car cold and not recently driven, start and allow to idle until the cooling fans cycle. This may take 10 or 20 minutes depending on how cold it is outside, but you will notice a significant difference once you have done it as your car and ECU will be on their honey-moon .

There's no reason to on a stock H22, the stock P13 works fine.

OK WELL I THINK ITS MARRIED TO THE ECU NOW. BUT ITS STILL NOT RUNNING RIGHT. ITS BETTER THAN BEFORE BUT STILL NOT PERFECT. ITS RUNNING LEAN, BACKFIRING AND HESITATES WHEN I GIVE IT GAS. I DONT THINK ITS GETTING THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF FUEL. BUT DONT KNOW WHERE TO START LOOKING. I HAVE A CEL CODE 22, THE VTEC PRESSURE SWITCH. BUT I DONT THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE WAY ITS RUNNING LIKE THAT, DOES IT? WHAT SHOULD I CHECK FOR FIRST AND SO ON? HELP!!..

ANY BODY IN THE RALEIGH, NC AREA HAS EXPERIENCED WITH H22 SWAPS. I WOULD LIKE SOME HELP WITH THIS. HAVE NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON WITH THIS CAR . HAVENT DRIVEN IT IN ABOUT A MONTH. . I NEED TO GET MY CAR BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN.

if you have removed power for more than 10 or so minutes the ecu will have to relearn how the engine runs, it simple start the car and let it idle for 10 minutes and you are done

Short of reconfirming the harness installation, wire routing and the actual H22 installation itself, it's going to be tough trying to diagnose your problem.

It does "sound" like a fuel enrichment condition, but without a scanner where I could compare values; I would only be guessing.
A Throttle Position Sensor, Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor, Ambient Air Temp Sensor, Engine Coolant Temp Sensor and even something as stupid as a vacume leak could cause this.

FYI...Typing in caps means you are yelling.

What else have you done to the car? Was it running before? What's changed since it ran last?

No, as in <U>NO</U>T getting enough fuel.

This is one of those common problems with engine swaps.
What was done right?
What was done wrong?
What happened in the interum?

It's hard enough trying to diagnose a vehicle that's factory stock sitting right in front of you, let alone a cut/paste vehicle!
Try doing it in a forum, where even the discription of the problems evoke 5 attempts to understand just what's happening, and it becomes down right impossible.

I've seen these threads go six or seven pages sometimes.
At this point, the first thing I'd suggest is determining what's working correctly to determine what is not.

IM NOT YELLING, ITS JUST THE WAY I WRITE/TYPE. IN ALL CAPS. I DONT MEAN ANYTHING BY IT. ANYWAYS I HAVENT DONE ANYTHING TO IT SINCE THE SWAP. BUT I WAS RUNNING A POA ECU INSTEAD OF AN P13 ECU, FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS. THEN THE PROBLEMS STARTED HAPPENING. THEN WHEN I FINALLY GOT A P13 ECU I THOUGHT IT WOULD STRAIGHTEN EVERYTHING OUT. BUT I WAS WRONG. SO NOW IM CHECKING FUEL PUMP, FUEL FILTER, FUEL LINES, FUEL INJECTORS. ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD BE CHECKING OR LOOKING FOR??

i have a 96 accord ex vtec with the f22b motor and original ECU and TCU. i put an automatic prelude transmission from a h22a (POA) and my fuel ratio is odd as well ^. its throwing a code for the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor and builds pressure under the gas cap. also the vtec doesnt kick in. i would eventually like the h22 motor as well. can you tell me which ECU and TCU i need?

If you get an H22 you would be looking to pick up an OBD2 P13 from a 1996 Prelude Si VTEC. The TCU and ECU are both in the one unit.
