Less, if you compare a 4g VTEC to a 5g Base. The SH is a good bit heavier, and the 4g base is somewhat lighter.

They also have more stringent emissions standards, so I'm guessing the cat is more restrictive as well.

Rash, it would not matter even if they did have stricter emission standards. Lets say a 1993 (15 years old, 16 for the early ones at this point in time) prelude si/srv compared to a 5th gen. The 5th gen has a much new cat. The old cat in the 4th gen is guarenteed to be much more clogged and dirty. If your state requires it to be constantly changed then ignore this post, but in my province (alberta) you are never required to... I changed my cat on my old prelude, it was 13 years old at the time and never changed once. With a new one i freed up alot of power lol.

More restrictive emissions requirements impacting power would presumably be reflected in rated HP.

Of course, I'm of the opinion that Honda's rated HP for the 5th gen was an abject lie

Yeah I suppose if you leave the original one on, you'd be hurting yourself quite a bit lol.

Most of the states do not require regular replacement of the cat, but if your levels aren't right (sniffer test), you most certainly will be in need of changing it out.

lol They probably got away with that because the engine still produces 190 at the crank because it's the exact same setup from years before. Maybe it was "tested" without the emissions equipment installed. Who knows lol

also isnt a 4th gen with an H22 gonna be a JDM H22 at 10.6:a compression where as the USDM one is 10.0:1 compression... difference of approx. 10hp?

not if the 4th gen has an H22A1 which i believe is rated at 190 or 195bhp
