Default Need some riding tips

i need some tips on how to ride the canyons when going down hill. i can ride up hill pretty quickly, but when coming down im the complete opposite. everytime i hang off the bike, it feels like i will lose stability and crash. does anyone have similar experience? is it just a mental thing, or is there a specific way of body positioning? thanx in advance

Body position is everything. Maybe work on your core at the gym. You have to be able to hold yourself in position and not let yourself slide forward/backward unless you do it.

Remember YOU are riding the bike. Just have some buddys with more experiance go out and watch you a couple times and then maybe they can point you to a fix.

Also I see you ride a yami. They are notorious for being twitchy and have had many issues with head shake so be careful.

yea, got my suspension dialed in for my weight and got a stablizer...going up hill i still carry some good corner speed, but downhill i cant go half as fast as going up. also after a track day, the canyons are becoming more sketchy lol

What's up Daniel? How's the new place? No homo, but you need to come back to SoCal man!

Anyway, you know I have the same problem w/ down hill too. From what I've learned, I just commit to the turn in my head, go outside and just sort of "cut" to the inside. It's worked for me, but those downhill right-handers are still sketchy.. But a lot better than before to say the least.

Yeah.. Because of the timing, I'll only be able to do Big Willow.. Me and Greg are doing it on the 27th, which is the Monday coming up. And then another track day w/ TI2TT at Big Willow AGAIN...on the 22nd of Nov I think. You should come down man..

down hill is all about braking.

edit: you moved Daniel? that sucks man! you gotta make it down for trackday or two, or maybe you can ride with me when i head up north, if everything goes as planned, i should be hitting up Thunderhill, and Infineon sometime next year. i'll let you know.

i'm such a video *****.

you can kind of hear, when i let off and get back on the gas. anytime i'm off, i'm braking.

Use your legs to hold on HARD to the bike so you dont use your arms to hold from going forward and steering involuntarily.

Some of it is also mental. I've noticed that it can kind of give you a sense of panic when you are going downhill.
