Default What rear suspension can a CRX have?

I have found that the CRX can't have a ASR Subframe tie bar. But can the CRX have a rear lower tie bar? Rear sway bar of any sort? Im just curious as to what all rear suspension you can put on a CRX...

The ASR 32mm hollow sway bar makes a night-and-day difference on a CRX. The arms from the bar to the end-links are adjustable and you can use bars of different thickness to get the rear suspension exactly how you want it. It is also lighter than other aftermarket anti-sway bar kits (especially ST bar which is the 7/8" or 22.22mm not 19mm). The bars major character flaw seems to be that it does not clear factory routed exhaust, which shouldn't even really be a problem as this is a race design.

If you can use a jack, jack stands, and a socket wrench installing the ASR bar is a breeze.

Nope. If the design worked around a stock routed exhaust system it would be the best available bar IMO.

have you driven the car with this sway bar yet?

if so under what driving conditions?

what spring rates are you using front and rear?

are you using a front swaybar?

are the koni's adjustable if so what setting are they at?

finally how does the car handle under hard loads does it want to over steer?

thanks allot ahead of time i'm considering buying this swaybar but i don't know whether or not it will be to stiff of a bar

judging from experience (roadracing/autox with a crx), the st bar is prob more than enough for almost any situation. The asr is a nice piece but is overkill for anyone but the most extreme autox'r who needs that much rear stiffness..most people would prob kill themselves with that loose of a crx

well i emailed asr about a week ago asking them when they were going to be available for ef's, and they responded back saying they are in progress on making the whole kit for da's, and ef's will soon follow. so i'm guessing that link is just for the swaybar kit.

that ASR swaybar has to be the thickest ive ever seen. i just wanted to throw out there if you were in the market for a sway bar and your car isnt a track car, that shouldnt be your first choice! tuning your suspension from only your sway bar will only cause the car to be far too twitchy, as i have the st sway bar and on the stiffest setting time to time get snap oversteer. my three cents you can also put the integra sway bar which is a popular mod...

why not just get one for the crx?

Factory Rear Sway Bar Sizes:

CRX Si - 15mm
Civic Si - 13mm
Integra - 14.7mm

Umm, no snap oversteer is never fun, oversteer maybe.. I've been in a crx that snap oversteered and was cut in half at the firewall by a tree. Not such good times...

I’ve had several suspension configurations that included the ASR rear sway bar:

ASR rear, Progress front, ERS 350f 250r
ASR rear, Progress front, ERS 350f 450r
ASR rear, Hf front, ERS 350f 450r
ASR rear, Si front, ERS 350f 450r

I don’t recall all the various shock setting (it is kind of a multi-purpose car), but they are adjustable and were adjusted. There are four endlink mounting positions and you can use splined anti-sway bars with different wall thickness for adjustability (available from Speedway). I’ve used two bars with the kit (0.22 and 0.19 if I remember correctly). With the Progress bar up front I was still getting understeer at lower speeds and under quick driver inputs. With Si front bar and the 350f450r springs the rear end would break free just before the front (exactly how I like it), unless I was braking/accelerating aggressively. It was very controllable.

I am not aware of any after-market exhausts that are compatible with this kit. Anyone let me know if I am wrong though. I was running a custom stainless exhaust that was almost straight through. This CRX ended up being my daily driver so I have since but a more forgiving anti-sway bar and exhaust system on it.

well what i meant was intentionally going into a turn and "drifting". yeah i can understand snap oversteering unintentionally and going out of control. but thats why i'm still researching on what the most effective rear sway will be for a daily/track.

btw did you come out of the accident okay?

More or less, I had debris and cuts from the knees down. Had no shoes or socks when the emt's got their. Had a broken ankle that they put a screw in a few weeks afterward. The driver was in a lot worse shape tho. Two broken femurs, and alot of injuries to go along with it..

That bar is sick btw. I love that you can get different gauge bars to tune it.

It's when the vehicle oversteers violently and without warning.
