FlywheelS, flywheels, FlywheelS
GUYS, I need some infromation, and I am hoping, after I searched through all the threads that I could and found out what info I could, that you guys might be able to help me out.
I am taking my car in for service, it needs a new clutch, some other transmission work and timing belt service. I am pretty much set on the clutch that i am going to get(exedy organic) but at the time that i do all this i want to throw in a lightened flywheel. Now I've talked to some friends in the industry and they have told me that the lighter the flywheel gets the more you will have to slip the clutch in order to get a smooth pull on the tarnsmission, now i think the stock flywheel in a GSR is around 20 pounds(cloud be more) or so, i have heard that the ITR flywheel is around fourteen fifteen pounds, and the aftermarket flywheels start around 8.5 and go up.
So here is where I need your guys feedback. I was planning on geting an EXEDY chromoly flywheel as well as the clutch, but it only weighs in at 10 pounds. I think for a daily driver that that is too light, are there any manufacturer's that make a lightened flywheel in the twelve and up range. I would prefer Chromoly because I am not a big fan of aluminum in a car that can rev up to 8500 rpm. OR if there are any folks out there that took their ITR flywheel out and are looking to unload it send me an im on aol(liveslifewell- my screenname). Any information would be greatly appreciated, the sooner the better because i am dropping my car off on Tuesday, which is tomorrow. Thanks again guys.

You can lighten a flywheel, but only so much. Flywheels, as far as I have seen, start out around 6.9lbs(Comptech I believe). The whole aluminum vs chromoly argument proved that neither is better than the other. If you are worried about being daily driven, I would worry more about which clutch to go with than the flywheel.

Already read that thread, it had some info to help me out but not exactly what I was looking for. I really need to know if someone out there makes a ten-twelve pound flywheel. Thanks for the feedback though.

Don't forget, if you get a spoon fly, also get a JDM starter or a SI/SIR starter otherwise you get some nice grindage

i just ordered the same clutch (thanks clutchcityonline) and a Comptech flywheel for my R.. should be a great combo.. and the Comptech is fairly inexpensive, comparably.. the ITR flywheel may serve your purposes well though, if you just want a heavier one..
i am sold on the exedy, gonna match it up with an organic clutch as well, depends on my buddies at the dealership(with the clutch). will i need a new starter if i go with the exedy?
I like it ALOT. The car revs like a *****. feels faster in acceleration. Rev-matching is different than stock, had to get used to the quicker revs.....still breaking the clutch in so can't do full out drag runs yet. My technician said the install was fine with no problems also. I give it the
The price was good too.
