Please Advice on H22 motor turbo built
I had turbo my h22 stock for 6 months now and have problems with pistons ring land and cylinder wall. crack and chipped.
Next step in consideration: built for turbo again or all motor. Being that this is a daily drive and don't have much money for fully sleeve bullet proof, turbo built is out of the table, under one condition. That is if it is possible to put in a stock piston or after market piston that doesn't require sleeving.
Have any of U guys out there use it or know someone that have put in a Mahle Gold series low compression pistons for non sleeve block turbo setup?
Is Mahle Gold series really not require sleeving?
Other option, for going to school and daily driving, all motor setup up which will cost less. Board out to oversize and drop in type S pistons.
Help!!!!!

x2. maybe see if you can find a used built bottom end that is already sleeved and call it a day.

I have been thinking about the same things you have. Sleeving is big $$$.
A F22 short block has steel sleeves and your F22 head can be used with some modifications your current head will work from what I have read. A good set of rods and some forged pistons can be bought instead of the sleeves.
It will be cheaper to build a F22/H22 engine. Ypu can run more boost and have a better torque curve.
You could use a H22 crankshaft with the F22 block and use the longest rods you can with some forged custom pistons. You can get a better rod ratio for relabilty and high RPM use.

If it is your daily driver trying to build a cheap turbo motor is not the way to go. Building a reliable DD turbo motor takes money, hard work, and time trying to pull something together just isn't the way to do it. If you want to prepare yourself for building a less expensive turbo setup in the future you could buy an f22 short block and put that on as a temporary fix and run it NA until you can afford to get new pistons and rods and do all the rest of the required modifications. This takes a little bit more work than replacing with an h22 short block but it would be a step in the right direction for your overall goals.
