Default Steering rack help? rattleing and wheel play, scary...and more ideas on broken v-tec

Alright, so this started a month or so ago, getting wheel play, it used to barely move, so my mechanic checked it over, so did I a few times, fixed a tie rod end, that helped some, and now i can move the steering wheel back and forth like 3-4 inches...scary..so i havent been driving very fast just going to school and back...but i can grab onto the steering rack axle thing that hooks to the tie rod end, near the bigger part of the rack and pull on it back and forth and inside the rack it rattles hard...does this mean i need a new rack? its not the 2 bushings i checked them...racks are sorta expensive...and i think its only on the passanger side.

another question...you guys told me to check the dowel pin and oring under the valvecover for the vtec, it wasnt there, i put one in with a new oring...still no vtec? could it be my computer? selenoid? anyone want to let me borrow extra parts to just try them and/or buy them? ill pay a small fee or something first..i have ebay and paypal feedback, can give you all my info, whatever it takes. thanks.

Bump...

also mechanic said ask about an GSR to LS swap, like having a gsr head on an ls motor then putting the gsr head back onto my gsr engine...he said sometihng like that, because that might be why vtec doesnt work. thanks
