Default Dumbass friend... new steering column?

So my idiot friend was drunk and decided to come over, and try to fit his old CRX key into my CRX key hole. Well the dumbass got it stuck and/or broke it off in there. Now WTF do i do? Do i have to get a whole new steering column?

you dont need a new column just an the ignition part itself....where the key goes in...go to honda with your VIN number and your registration card and they will give you a new ignition section...im not sure on the price but thats what i had to do when someone tried to steal my rex

Check your local junkyards for a new ignition lock cylinder and ignition key. Procedures for replacing it are at places like http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/lockcylinder.jpg and http://ww1.honda.co.uk/car/owner/workshop.html.

The only immediate drawback is having two different keys for the doors and ignition. This is also remedied if you are willing to disassemble the door locks, buy a few more parts, etc. Post back if you want some sites that explain how to re-key the door locks.

I don't know how your friends are, but anybody I consider a friend and let in my car has the decency to fix what they break in situations like this. Drunk or not, they do the right thing and take care of it, or atleast pay half if it was something "on the outs" that might not have entirely been their fault.

Good luck.
