Function and Form Question. HELP PLEASE
General rule of thumb with the RSX/EP3 suspension....
Any fully adjustable (height/dampening) coilover under $900 is going to be a piece of crap. Those just above $900 will only be slightly less crappy.

HAHAHa so true... function over form is real junk but if that is what you want then go for it

i have had mine on my ep3 for 30k miles. they arent blown, the only issue is that the collars are siezed from driving through our salty winters in MO. No complaints here. this is speaking from over a year of experience, not from "what ive heard" or some assumption because of price.

What have you compared them to? I might think copper is pretty if I've never seen gold or silver...
And honestly, it is tough to tell when a crappy shock is blown because the tolerance isn't that good to begin with. Not cutting on them, just telling the truth. Actually, shocks really don't 'blow'. The valving just degrades over time and/or the seals start leaking.

i have ridden in cars with Tein Flex, JIC coilovers on an S2K, Gravana Coilovers, Ground Control on Konis and mine still seem pretty decent for the price. Mine havent leaked a drop from any orfice on them like ive seen others. As far as valving goes, i have mine set one turn from fully soft and have never adjusted so i wouldnt really know how much they have "degraded". And yes, you are cutting on them. Whats your experience with them?

Btw an S2000 has a different suspension design when comparing to an EP3 so you really can't compare unless that suspesion was on your car... drive an EP3 with Tein Coilovers and then drive yours I garantee you'll be surprised
Well for instance the F&F have the wrong spring rates for the car... they have a stiffer front when it should be the rear that is stiffer to get the best handling possible...
As to what I think would be best I would go with either the a Tein coilover or the Buddy Club coilovers... that is just my suggestion... but if you want to get custom spring rates I would go with some Ground Controls with Koni Yellows... I would suggest you read up a little on how the suspension works on our cars... its not like its use to be on the older civics where you could dump them and not worry about the rack and pinion creaking lol...
Btw from pass experiences Todd00 has had nothing but good and accurate advice when it comes to suspensions for our cars

lol, i never said that they would make your car handle the best. i just stated from experience they they are not "junk". compared to coilovers that are $1k more, of course they will not be as highly R&D'd. for my application they have served their purpose and now i am moving on to something stiffer. as far as rollcenter adjustment and tie rod angles, that can all be fixed for a few more hundy. From just lurking and reading, Todd00 hates on everything that is cheaper. Koni's IMO are not worth the $$$ since you have to chop up your old struts to get them to work, in my book, thats kind of wack.

I don't hate on everything that is cheaper. I just hate on inferior products.
People don't realize that what might work well on an older/different Honda has absolutely nothing to do with the newer chassis cars, especially the strut-based Ep3/RSX.
For $750 you could have a really nice street/track setup on a 98 Civic. The same cannot be said for the Ep3/RSX.
Point being, the front struts are extremely costly to manufacture on these cars. So to get a suspension under $1000 that is still fully-adjustable, something has to give. And 90% of the time, what gives is cheaply and poorly constructed shocks.
And again, people don't realize how important a good damper is to a good handling car.
So yes, I discourage buying cheap coilovers. The ironic part is that for a few hundred less, you can buy the A-spec suspension and have a superior handling car. Or, you can spend the cash on good lowering springs (wiht a mild drop) and good shocks and have an even better handling car.
Nothing 'wack' about Konis. If Koni were to make a fully replacement front strut, they'd cost considerably more. This is how Koni keeps the price down--they don't skimp on shock internals like other companies to keep the price down.

i have buddyclub N+ coilovers and couldnt be more happy with them.
i used to have Ksport coils i got off a friend and that was the worst riding and handling suspension i have ever had they were complete garbage i think i ended up selling them as is for like 200 bucks

Agreed!!!

i have f2's and im happy with them.. they've been on my car for a lil over a year now.. i think its a great street app. rides smooth. if you want a drop that goes low then this is the one for you. they did offer these coilovers to go with swift springs as an option.. im not sure if they still do or if they will continue to do it on the newer updated type 2s

You should get progress if you on a budget around 900. Best coilover you can buy for the price. If not get BC N+. No tein..

One of the truest things I've read on this forum. If you don't know what you're looking for how will you ever find it?

Alright. I've done Some research and its between the Progress Competition Coilovers or Function and Form type2's. Can anyone give me pointers bout these suspension choices? THANKS!
All of the Mid-Ohio classroom RSX's used Progress suspension. That should speak of their quality on this chassis.
Progress can also be rebuilt and custom-tuned for springrates.
Does F&F offer any of that? Nope.

There is really no reason for RSX/EP3 suspension to come with alternate tophats unless they adjust camber.
And even then, you're going to run into alignment issues if you go too aggressive on the camber because you won't be able to pull toe back into spec.

Never said there was anything wrong w/ using stock tophats, yeah. I've seen a lot of people running into alignment issues when they run too much camber. I'm running -2.5 and had no issues zeroing the toe out. I've seen a lot of people having issues w/ BC N+ running into alignment issues.
