Default Break Booster

I have a 1994 Accord EX. They said I need to change my Booster cause it has a last timing and i'm scared that its gonna fail on my and I won't stop. Is there a DIY thread on how-to? Plus I hear this noise in my RR tire when I break only. Its a clung clung clung noise while I am going slow speeds while breaking. Don't know what it is. Change the breaks and rotor aswell and did that 3-5 months ago. THanks for your help!

First off; the Brake Booster (if it should fail) acts to boost the braking action. You will NOT loose your brakes (as you state) BUT they will be harder to apply and that could be problamatic if it's during a panic stop (and you don't anticipate it)

Second; What caused the booster to fail? In most cases it's a miss-diagnosed Brake Master Cylinder which has 1) failed in the past or 2) is now failing, and has leaked brake fluid into the booster damaging the diaphram.

It CAN be done at home, but it will (at the very least) require moving the Brake Master cylinder out of the way and much patience (you also have to go under the dash to disconnect a few things).

I'd recommend having a fresh pair of eyes look at it; with particular attention to the master cylinder as well. It would cost but an additional hour in labor to install both the Brake Booster and Master Cylinder and have the system flushed.
