ACT streetlite need to be resurfaced ?
I am going to be doing my transmission swap to hydro very soon with a new clutch and I want to know if I will have to resurace my currect ACT streetlite flywheel ? Do chromoly flywheels need to be resurfaced ?
i bought a used Dseries ACT flywheel and emailed them about the subject, i get this response:
Burt,
Thank you for your email and support of ACT products. You are correct
about the etching "03-13-03" being the production date. The flywheel
that you have purchased is our part number 600115 which is our Prolite
flywheel weighing 8.4lbs.You can resurface the flywheel by taking it to
your local machine shop. We recommend that when you have the flywheel
machined that you take no more than .010"-.020" at a time. We also do
not recommend that you machine this flywheel more than three times.
Please note that heat is a byproduct of a clutch system so heat marks
are quite common. As long as the friction surface remains smooth and
flat then there is no need for resurfacing. When resurfacing this
particular flywheel please note that the proper flywheel step is -.065".
This means that the disc contact surface should sit .065" lower than the
bolting surface of the pressure plate. If you have any further questions
please feel free to contact me in the future.
