Touching up "white powder" old clear coat with black base under.
At issue:
An old Accord (black paint) with clear coat coming off and producing "white powder" on the base coat. I'm wanting a touch up process (since this peeling all over the car will most likely continue) that I can do on an ongoing basis.
This needs to be a "spray can" process (I know ...I know) since I no longer have the equipment to gun spray, or the time. This doesn't have to look that good. I have already 1000 grited some of the areas but the areas continue to grow because I can't seem to feather out the clear coat edges to apply the clear .
Sorry folks , this old girl doesn't justify doing a complete repaint job or major trip to a paint shop....I'm wanting what I call a "20 foot" paint touchup process.
thanks

that is your clearcoat failing. happened on the roof/trunk/rain gutters of my last civic. the only way to remove it is to completely sand the area and lay down new paint. I did a temp job with satin black for a while and you could still see a tiny bit of an outline. But then again, I only worked for about 15 minutes by hand. If you want a clean job, stock up on sand paper and get to work.
