Default tightening steering ?

since i have purchased my RSX-s the steering has been TIGHT. no middle. several aligments later, resulted in the same results. i can trun the wheel slightly on a corner and not have it track back center it stays left or right. and traveling in a straight line tends to go either left or riight.

is there adjustment in tightness? or any adjustment that could be made. every aligment place i have used has said they don't understand why this is like this.

thanks

A straight-bodied car should go straight after a 4 wheel alignment. What's the history of the vehicle?

So do you have or have you not gotten a carfax/history report on your car?

i have got one. nothing was reported through carfax. or through insurances.

the problem with carfax:
there are people able to fix a car without reporting. i am one of them. i was able to restore a civic after- airbag deployment, core support ,bumper, hood, fenders, all trashed, just take it to a frame shop and make sure everything is staight before replacing windows or windshield. so its not always accurate.

so that being known. is there addjustment on the rack? hahaha (first question)

X-Measure the chassis from underneath to see if the chassis is diamoned. or you could always take it to a body shop and have them throw it up on a rack and measure it for you

Doesn't more caster help the wheel return to center after letting go?

It isn't adjustable and the factory caster should be fine, but just saying...

Maybe the rack is just *tight* and defective? Is it holding the wheel whichever direction you turn it, or is it easy to turn back to center?

if the alignment checks out good then i would start looking at the ps lines to see if there deformed or damaged then i would look at the steering rack.

i have been hearing some POPing that has been going on, (off and on) since i bought the car last year. i just changed all the shocka and struts to a-spec's about 3 months ago. after that i had it aligned then placed on the rack to measure the body. popping still there. seems as if the rck might be the cause. PS does seem a little more difficult at times. but not bad. i believe my popping noise is coming from my rack.

next thing to chage is clutch ( just because it needs changing) then my rack. in that order. so it will be a little longer before figure this out, unless there is an adjustment,

maybe as aznietboi87 stated maybe a line is pinched. i have not checked out the dynamics of the system but if there are return lines allowing pressure to release from inside the rack then maybe when i turn it there is built up pressure keeping the car turned... ( again i do not know the mechanics of it just thinking)
