How to wire Sub/Amp to deck?? Please Help
Subs are in the trunk of my integra. I've got the rca wires, fuse, speaker wire. Also does the wire have to go to the battery terminal? how do I get it there.
first off make sure you are running your rca wires away from the power and remote wires. This means, other side of car etc. The reason for this is to reduce signal noise.
RCAS
On the back of your deck (assuming non stock) you should have RCA outputs for your subs, connect and run, if you have two sets (front/rear) connect them to the rear. If your rca cable has a thin wire run along with the rca pairs, ground it at the deck.
Remote Wire
The remote wire will turn on your amp when your deck is on, there should be a wire for this located right at the deck, if not, it may be labelled power ant.
Fuses and Power Wire
You need to run the wire through the firewall to the battery to get the proper amount of current to your amp, you would'nt want to supply it with the small stock wiring made for the radio would you?
Connect wire to battery, cut it within 12"-14" of battery terminal (safety!) and run it straight to the back.
There are plugs on the firewall you can pop out on the passanger and drivers side near the kickpanels that you can pass wire through. Just make sure you use grommets, or cut a hole in the plug run it through and replace the plug (remember water can get through this hole and the chaffing of the wire against your chassis could cause it to short!!)
Basically connect an your done!

But you forgot the most important wire!!!! The GROUND....you will have no problems with alternator noise if you ground your system properly...I have run my RCA's next to my power wire and have had no problems....good grounding and quality RCA's are key here. For the extra FOS (factor of safety) I always run the two away from each other. Just superstitious. My experience is that most problems in automotive wiring can be traced back to shitty grounds. Remember the ground must be the same size as the power wire. It's just as important to the system as you 12V+ wire.
You gound should be as short as possible, and should be connected to bare metal...that means you should whip out the sand paper, and sand off the paint/primer (go all the way to bare metal) where you plan to attach the ground.
Here's what I do when doing a honda/acura....
RCA's...I run them down the rear tunnel, then under the carpet, then under the rear seat...it's easier then peeling back the door sills IMO. Just keep it clear of the shifter and ebrake linkage. I also run speaker wires (if necessary) up the same hump. Along with the RCA's I run the amp remote...even if you were concerned with inducing noise, there isn't enough current in this wire to cause any problems...if you don't believe me...run it with the power wire.
The amp remote wire should be connected to the amp remote output on your headunit...especially if it is an aftermarket one. Headunits treat the power antenna wire differently depending on the manufacturer....some only are hot when the FM is on...others are hot all the time. Unless you want the amp to only work when the FM is on...attach it to the "AMP RMT" wire on the rear of the headunit.
Rage is correct about the battery. Connect the power wire to the battery, then fuse w/in 18" of the battery....the shorter this distance, the better. Then run the power wire though the fire wall as described...I run it under the passenger side door sill, then behind the rear seat and into the trunk.

To add a point to what Teken said.....make sure the Ground lead from the battery is the same guage as your power wire.....If your running a 4 gauge wire from the battery to the amp....add a 4 gauge ground from the batt NEG post to chassis of the car. It has basis in Kirchev's (hope i got his name right) Law.
