Default Smogging a Jdm B16 SiR II?

im a noob, but ive' asked this a couple times and noone seems to know the correct answer.

i have a 93 jdm b16 sir 2 in my eg hatch im guessing thats obd1. motor is the same year as the car. ive read that what i need it to pass is get a usdm del sol b16 intake manifold and connect some wirings whatever its called. any other things i need to do?. the problem i have is the b16 swapped is automatic so is the car. so im just wondering what ecu i can use? im using the jdm p30 auto ecu right now. i have the p28 auto from an ex wil that work? what do i need to do to make the car pass smog and eventually bar'? if you can give me specific details that would help

u can try going to a smog station but if the smog techs figured out that the motor in that car doesnt belong there then he will just tell u to go home...thats when ur gonna need to make a trip to the state referee and get a sticker saying that motor is LEGAL to be in that car and it has ALL emissions equipment hooked up..

a state ref. is pretty much a state ran smog station and they are some picky ppl...they pretty much check over everything including the ecu and make sure its the right ecu for that motor u have, so i dont think a p28 will work bcuzz a p28 is for a 92-95 SOHC vtec motor..just do some research online

I think you're kinda SOL on this one. You need a USDM automatic P30, they don't exist. Register out if state or convert to 5 speed, personally I like the second option better, a B16 automatic is a waste.

lol well it wasnt really swap for power or whatever you guys call it. its daily drive and i just needed a swap that would get the car running and it was complete and cheap. so i went for it. theres no way to chip the p28?

Sure there is, but when the they look at the ECU and see that its a P28 they wont pass it. Provided I understand how california does stuff. A lot of stuff that would pass emissions in terms of passing the sniffer test wont pass a visual inspection. If I remember right they'll also want to see a Del Sol intake manifold as well. And all emissions equipment that would have been on a USDM del sol vtec hooked up and functioning properly.

Edit. I guess you already knew about the intake manifold.

there is ways to pass smog but ur gonna be paying a good amount of money to get it pass..last i heard ppl are charging $300+...u can try to have it smogged at diff smog stations but if they figure it out they wont smog ur car but u never noe some smog stations might not even notice..if u cant find a auto p30 which i dont think there is then ur out of luck, either convert to a 5spd or swap in a diff motor and do a auto to manual conversion..what part of cali u from?

From what I understand if you want to pass smog legitimately you will need to do the following:
- Install a '94 - '95 Del Sol Vtec intake manifold (I'm assuming the only difference between it and the JDM version is the purge solenoid, which is easily taken from a USDM D-series engine and added in leiu of swapping the manifold [someone correct me if i'm wrong])
- Swap in a 5 speed Beries tranny
- Use a USDM P30
- Make sure the charcoal canister is installed and all lines are hooked up
- Make sure you have a cat

I'm just giving you the info. Theres no really easy solution to this unless you register the car out of state. Its not a pleasant situation to be in, i'll give you that, but until california comes up with some better smog laws theres not much anyone can do about it.
