well if you are looking for more power with bolt ons id say go with the b18c. both would be good no matter what. both those engines come with about the same hp but the b18 starts with more torque. the b16 can rev higher easier but wont have as much torque.

I say go with the b18c because with the b16b your paying more for just a little more power. Just my opinion though lol

if you can get the ctr engine at crack head price then I say go for it.. then later in the future you can upgrade to a 1.8 stroker kit like the one spoon has or you can go ls vtec or b20 vtec with the head and tranny you got from the ctr.. it will be a BEAST! as for turbo the usdm gsr is the best I think.. for bolt ons the ctr already wins..

i'd go for the b18 aswell. the b16 is a great engine but the b18 is just that wee bit better.

it all depends on the route. First choose between ALL MOTOR or BOOST'd, then pick the powerplant. if you choose boost get a USDM B18C1 or B18A1. I know many people that are able to make substancial power (close or right at 300whp) with both setups. I personally sleeved a B18A1 and put a B16 head on it and make over 400whp (built bottom end of course)

correct me if i am wrong fellas but i also think the B16B makes a tad more compression than the JDM GSR...

CTR>GSR even though it's got a little less torque, it's definitely got the better cams. i feel a power increase at 4k and then vtec kicks in at 6k and it just keeps going. Picked up motor, tranny, mounts, and axles for $2700 w/tax

its hard to build a 200hp b16. easy to build a 200hp b18 tho.

i know many ppl boosting stock gsr that makes over 300hp. with the right tune they can hold up really well

The B16b would be the better choice, but the b18 would be cheaper. Now if it was between the B18c and the B16a.. the b18 would def. be the better choice.
