Default 94 GSR audio questions...

ok, i got a couple problems with my car...
first of all, my front speakers are blown... what's a good value speaker to replace them with? also, I need speakers that will be a good fit (i.e. no/little modification).
secondly, i have a sub box (12" alpine custom box) in the back/trunk and it really shakes the back of the car when outside... like u can hear something rattling/vibrating lots... how do i make it so that on the outside of the car i don't hear any vibrating, rattling noises... just clean bass..
do i need some sound deading? will this increase the weight of the car?? how do i put it in?

also... i dont' want to be tearing out my trunk panels... is it possible to just stick on some deading stuff on the panels??

You prob need to dampen your license plate for one (it stops quite a bit of vibration noise right away!), and yes you will have to rip out some rear panels (it takes less than 30 mins to rip out the trunk, and 40 to put in the sound deadener).

It WILL add weight to your car, thats how it deadens panels, but seeing as a 70sq ft roll (enough to do the ENTIRE car...including floorboards) weighed a little less than 30lbs, your not going to slow yourself down noticebly.

You do not want Dynamat...you are looking for Brown Bread (by http://www.b-quiet.com) or Ramm mat. Both are very cheap alternatives that work; period.

as far as decent speakers for the front interior, try the Infinity Reference set, it's about $110 bucks, has a nice silk dome tweeter (not harsh..) and it will be an upgrade to factory.

everyone knows I'm an infinity junkie, but if you search sounddomain.com, you'll see tons of ppl reassuring you that that speaker is the best overall price to quality for the $100 category.

The lite stuff is .17 lbs/sq ft and the extreme is .4 lbs/sq ft.

I don't think the weight is that much. If you want your system to sound nice these are some things you need to do, and your sub box is prob 10 TIMES more heavier than the amount of deadining your putting in.

Just my .002.

If I was extremely concerned about weight, I'd use the dynamat extreme, then ONLY put it on panels that are vibrating, and only enough to make them stop; you do NOT have to do your entire car like some people do, just small squares on some panels is enough to kill them.

For the fronts, you can use any 5 1/4 speaker, most 6 1/2 speakers will fit also.
