curious because if I want to upgrade to a type s, or type r engine
I can cut that price cheaper if I sell mine
so people who know, how much would I be able to get out of it
I dont race my car (yet)
its a bone stock engine
only 63,500 miles on it

 

Just sell the entire car and get a Type S. Remember that if you swap motors, you'll not only have the price of the Type S motor (which are not cheap), but you'll also take a serious hit in resale value.

It's just a bad idea, honestly. Buy a real Type S.

 

I'm interested as well, I have a 03 EP with 48k on the motor. What do you guys think an a3 would go for because I've seen sort of a broad range of prices.

 

a k-series a3 is going to be hard to sell....

 

Sold mine with the same mileage for $1000. I needed the money ASAP. You could probably get $1200 if you're patient.

I just blew the engine in my 05 type-s... I called one of the local salvage yards.. they said I could get a base model engine for $800 bucks with a warranty threw them... the type-s they wanted $5200 for.

Yeah even worse whiteonrice.... I live in a GM town. Biggest manufacturing plant in town is the GM plant... but luckily it got shut down and only has 2 years left. haha Bunch of GM hicks

I figured only around 1k, but one of the funniest things I saw the other day was a posting for $2400 haha, I should have saved the link to the site. I'm probably going to end up going with boost next spring.

Oh yeah, you'll always see outrageous prices for k20a3s. Mostly shops selling them (maybe a warranty is included). If I didn't need the money so bad, $1200 was going to be my bottom line.

Wow. I would think the A3 would be worth more than that. I mean although it doesn't have the 210 HP it still has 160HP and a nice amount of torque which would still be fun in any previous generation civic, integra, etc. Plus it is still a K series and therefore has a bright future.

Oh well. I stil just plan to JRSC mine.

 

ive been browsing for an a3 bottom end to build for a blower, cause they are cheap.. i was thinking of maybe increasing the dispalcement a bit as well.. it would probaly run about the same price as an a2 swap... although its just been browsing ive benn running into complete motors for about a $1000

 

you guys are lucky selling the a3 motors for 1k.

i see them go for $500-700
