Racing Helmet. Where to get one so I can race at the local track??
I have a question.. I never have had to worry about this untill now. My turbo is coming in soon and the local track I race at requires you to were a helmet if you get a certain time at the track and well I will be running faster than that after the turbo. So I need help from everyone. I don't have a clue of any good racing helmets, prices, brands, styles, or nothing.... So please help out a slight rookie at this. Thanks in advance Matt aka Jaguar
No don't go to a motorcycle shop. Motorcycle helmets are built and inspected to different standard. Find out from the track exactly what standard helmet you need. Then hit up online and just do a search.
I made the "motorcycle helmet mistake" - the track probably has similar standards as the SCCA - and they require a minimun of Snell 95 rating.

Summit racing would be your best bet. They actually have a werehouse where they stock the stuff. Great customer service too!! If you go through most any other websites..they usually put in the order to the helmet manufacturer and this process can talk ALOT longer. Been there done that.
Go for the SA2000 reting. Its a overkill for drag racing but in case you ever want to do road racing/AutoX (ITA), this helmet wil cover you.
My particular favorite is the Simpson Voyeger N. Its 379$..but its the real deal

http://www.ogracing.com is highly recommended, but it's really good to try before you buy. So if ordering online, know exactly what you want.

Jaguar- I see you are from AR so I am assuming that the track you are speaking of is Centerville? Do you have an accord? What other mods do you have if you are planning on running better than 11.5?
NOTE: Centerville is a 1000' track so don't think we even think about going 11.5 in the 1/4. Yes 1000' track and Yes... IT SUCKS
