I'm looking to get my motor BAR'd. Its a 96 ITR motor in an EG. I've heard of conflicting answers on how to BAR this motor. First, I heard that it'd be easier to try to get the motor BAR'd as a GSR, meaning, purchase a Skunk 2 IM with a 96 GSR CARB stamp, purchase a 96 USDM GSR ECU, etc. The other method is to BAR the motor as a 96 ITR but what would I do about purchasing an ECU?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am not sure what BAR means but if I were you I would register the car somewhere that doesn't require emissions testing like here in OHIO!!!

you need a USDM 97-98 ITR ECU and the related manifold and throttle body.
It is prolly easier to get a skunk2 manifold for a PR3 head, then get a GSR carb sticker for the skunk2 manifold and a stock GSR throttle body and ECU along with the related evap purge solenoid and charcoal canister
Either way it is a lot of work.
