Default Launching with slicks...

I have a 94 CX hatch with a B18C1. The motor is stock internally but i have the typical bolt-ons. I am planning on running my car on the track and I never really launched on slicks before.

It is mounted on 14" wheels. I was wondering what RPM i should launch at?

What is the correct way of doing a burn-out? rev to 7500rpm in second gear?

TIA

sorry for the newbie qustions...

22" slicks would be best. maybe 7psi and a 7200-7400 launch. start with that and play with it until you get it. should see 60's in the 1.70's if your lucky.

If I want to show off and make one big ole burnout..I start my burnout with second. First gear is usualy enough if you hold the RPMs up there 6-7ks while during your burnout.
You tend to start breaking stuff if you do too many 2nd gear burnouts..especially if you wonder out of the water box.

if I do a burnout in 1st gear, car walks all over the plac in the burnout box, 2nd gear is no problem.
1st gear burnout = 10-12 seconds to get tires heated
2nd gear = 6-8 seconds to get tires heated

if you're going to drag it with stock tires, or something equivalent, try lauching at about 3000-3500 RPM and you shouldn't spin too much out of the hole.

as for the burnout, i've never heard of second gear burnouts!

i usually dump it at 7K or so, sometimes less, depending on the burnout box conditions.

Uh, somehow I don't think his current setup will break the tires loose on a 2nd gear dump. Probably burn up the clutch maybe..

I did 2nd Gear Burnouts with 20x8x14 MT Drags and Stock B18B\B16a Trans with only I\E. Cut 1.93 60fts with 13PSI in the Slicks and Open Diff, 6000rpm Launch.

I'd definately be in the 1.8x with a harder launch, better burnout and less psi in slicks. I was trying not to break axles.

If you can shift it into second then you can just as easily start in second. If you let off when you shift you're wheels stop anyways so why not just start in second and hold it at like 6000 rpm.

Make sure you get the slicks nice and wet first. Im sticking to street tyres cause I got weak axles.

I've no where near the power to attempt 3rd.
Only 140 crank hp for the burnout. Then add juice!

the axles will hold even a 4th gear burnout, remember the tires are wet and slippery when you start.

Will they hold for a 7000 rpm launch? THAT is a different question all together!

I launch at 7000 rpm with 8 psi in my street tires. best 60ft was 2.0. This was my old car which was a 90 si with a stock b16a. My best was 14.7@ 91mph
