Ghetto interior paint, need some suggestions... (pretty much on topic)
I have all of the rubber junk out and the new cage foot plates have been all welded up so all of the damage to the paint in the interior has now been done (save for normal wear and tear). Now I need a low budget, rust proof way to cover the floor that's not going to require a ton of prep time. I don't care if the color matches perfectly or if the texture isn't perfect, I just want to cover any steel so that it won't rust on me. I was hoping the cans of yellow rustolium (SP?) that I have would do the trick, but they're not going on well. They also dust the whole damn car with a haze that floats in the air for minutes. I think the easiest option would be a brush-in application...maybe something that they would use to paint metal siding on houses. Any suggestions? I really don't want to spend all day covering stuff I don't want to get painted. Plus, touch-ups would be easier if they weren't a spray, since I don't want to have to remove everything in 6 months to touch things up. Thanks for any help!
If you're not overly concerned with looks, Rustoleum also comes in pint cans if you want to go that route. Otherwise, pretty much any outdoor enamel will cover metal pretty well. Just make sure you have a clean surface and use a primer.
kind of off-topic, but i definately wouldn't go with yellow. you really want the interior of the car (including the cage) to be painted a dull color such as gray. i actually drove a racecar with a yellow interior and, believe it or not, it was pretty distracting.

Yeah, spray paint dusts all over the place, but it's pretty much the way to go I think. Breathe deep while painting in there
