Custom CRX Woofer Box
Basically im working on trying to be a little bit different from the norm of having just a box chillin in the back of my hatchback.
I have a 89 CRX HF, if you lift the carpet in the back there is a piece of plastic (roughly the shape of the picture below) that rests over a hole that houses the spare tire. My plan is to get some MDF and trace out the shape of the plastic cover on it and cut it out. Now i realize that theres not enough space in there even with the spare out for a 12 inch woofer to be housed, So i plan on getting strips of wood to screw along the outline of the cutout so that it will sit higher up, giving space for a woofer box below. (im think either 3x3 or 3x5 strips) Then i will cut the hole in the MDF for the woofer to be mounted in. After that i will get an additional square piece of MDF large enough for a 12 inch hole + an extra few inches (probably 16x16) after i cut out the hole in the second piece of MDF i will mount it to the bottom of the original piece and then build the walls and the rest of the enclosure around it. (this is illistrated in the image, the two gray parts would be connected)
Basically the hopeful end result would be a woofer thats flush with floor via being housed in a woofer box below the floor in the Spare Tire compartment.
Any thoughts? Problems? Additional Helpful Tips/Comments? Has this been done before, and if so could someone post some pictures? Thanks.

I know i wasnt incredibly clear with my descriptions and that its just a shitty paint pic atm but gimme a break its like midnight and im at work

Skip the "box" use fiberglass in the spare tire well and a MDF "top" to mount the sub to, there are more then a few 12" subs that will fit if the top of box is flush with floor pan, the only reason to raise the top is to get more volume in the cabinet... http://www.google.com/search?h...ell=1
