crv intake tube and apexi universal filter w/hondata reflash
are those two pieces good enough to meet the minimum requirements for a reflash? or even the crv intake tube alone? on the website, it says you need at least an intake and/or header/exhaust for it to work. i want to keep the car pretty much stock. a header and/or exhaust is out of the question for me.
thanks!!
thanks!!
I would say no from my experience. The difference with an intake and reflash only is minimal but when I added my header it was like night and day at midrange.
Regarding the Crv tube + filter: The custom x-intake has a modified MAF housing. If the MAF housing fins are not sanded down properly you won't get the gains you're looking for. In fact you may do the opposite and disrupt airflow and throw off your MAF readings.

what intake were you running, cold or short?
i knew about the modifying the maf housing which i really don't want to do because i'd want to put the car on the dyno afterwards and make sure the a/f is alright... and that costs $$, i'd rather go out an buy an intake at that point. was it the aem sri that was redesigned with the modified maf sensor housing? and does anyone make a LEGAL header with a cat for our cars yet?

Have both. The Injen CAI MR and the original X-intake. The SRI had zero hesitation while my CAI had the usual poor throttle response at low RPM. Regarding power difference, I can't really tell (and that's the honest answer) but I still change them out depending on the season.
I don't have first hand experience with the AEM SRI but I've read that the first generation had some cel issues but has now been corrected. My Injen CAI has cel issues too even now. It comes on intermittently which is a pain but not as often. If you're referring to a CARB legal header with a cat: The answer is no. Closest thing I can think of is a DC/Strup RH with a custom HFC or a Vibrant RH + HFC but I would recommend getting an O2 defouler to be on the safe side.

I can assure you my Injen CAI has hesitation at low RPM and many others who have one will agree with me. The SRI that I'm referring to is not a typical tube on a filter intake that we're used to seeing. It's a modified MAF housing + Apexi filter intake. It has the characteristics of a stock system (stabilizing fins) and the added benefit of an optimized MAF housing to smooth out the disturbance from the increase air flow so your AF won't be off too much.
Most aftermarket companies did not address the MAF sensor found on our k20z3 motors which explained why early generation intakes threw CELs.
