Default Help with me Illumina/Prokit?

I just got some illuminas and eibach prokit. There arent much instructions...

Where do all of these little parts go? Do I need to retain anything from my stock suspension? Im trying to put these together before the install tomorrow. Which springs go on the back and on the front? How do I know if there on the shock right?

Are there any markings on the springs to indicate which could be front and rear?

I do know that the smaller end of each spring sits on the perch, and the top end with the tapered (flattened) wire end goes up under the top hat.

When you take your stock suspension apart, just carefully lay out each piece from the top hat and directly underneath in order, and you should be able to see which new parts you use and which original parts you reuse.

Looks like it came with all new top hat bushings and metal insert tube and washers. Make SURE you don't forget the tapered washer that sits under the top hat near the top of the shock piston.

Its pretty straight forward once you remove your OEM suspension.

Use the Koni install thread as a general guide line, obviously a few things will be different but it should help. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=891136

It sits between the shock and top hat bushing. You will see it when you remove your stock suspension.

Thanks, let me be a little more specific.. This is one little baggy per shock..

I know what the little black box is the little adjustable ***** but everything i dont know.

There are two top hat bushings? Or is that a spare?

What is that long cylinder piece in there? And there is a washer, is that the tapered one mentioned earlier?

You should have a washer that goes on top of the bump stop. then the long metal sleeve on that, and one of the bushings goes on the sleeve. Then the strut mount, and the other bushing fits into the top of the mount. Then there should be another washer on top of that bushing and finally the nut. Ill scan a pic.

you have to disassemble your old shocks and replace everything as it is stock.

the tokico baggie comes with only new top bushings and a new nut and washer plate.

the bumpstop plate patrick is refering to is reused from your old shock. just dont forget that.

there are no instructions other than following OEM instructions. download a FACTORY service manual.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Ok, on #1 on that list. The very top nut on the Tokico shock how tight should that be? And do i need an allan wrench?

Im kind of unsure on how tight i should torque that down.

And also, the front to shocks did not come with those tan bump stops.. WTF?? Am I supposed to reuse to stock washers?

Re use the stock bump stops, and cut them in half if you are lowering your car.

Re-using the stock washers is fine.

Yes you need an allen wrench to hold the shock rod in place while you tighten the nut on top. I can't tell you the exact torque value, but snug it down fairly tight. Do it after you've installed, and dropped the car back down onto the wheels.

Google "Honda Hookup Manuals", register and download the helms in PDF format. That is your single best resource for the questions you've been asking.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Ok, im really confused. Number 12 on the list here. I did NOT have any of those bumpstops on my stocks shocks. They have never been tampered with before. I checked inside the dust shield and nothing on BOTH front shocks.

Please tell me i can pick up some from a parts store like autozone...

those bumpstops that came with your shocks will work fine. you should even cut them about 3/4 of its length.

well, when you see your pic, that white barrel IS a bumpstop. it just doesnt look like the stack of donuts that 92+ models come with.

im saying cut that 3/4 length.

Oh ok, i see now. But what im saying is that I only have the bumpstops for the rear shocks..

I dont have any from my suspension OR the tokico struts for the front of the car.

I dont know what to do..

I do have the washer or washers (i dont remember) circled here in red here from the front stock suspension. Am I supposed to re use those?

And just below the washers you can see the stock bumpstops. For some reason they WERE NOT on my stock suspension. I dont know what to do about that right now, and im wandering why in the world i didnt have those on my stock front struts.

Another question I have.

In this picture it shows on the right the bump stop. Is that the position it stays in on the piston rod? Im confused about that.

Also, since i only have 2 bumpstops and you are reccomending that i cut them anyway, could i just cut the two bump stops i do have in half and use them on all four struts? Where do the bumpstops go on my new struts?

if you only have 2, you CAN cut them in half, but im not sure if tahts enough.

it does not matter where it sits on the shock, it will be pushed up no matter what.

yes, that funny washer is the bumpstop plate. you must reuse that.

Your car has Shocks, not Struts.

You are making this far more difficult than it needs to be. Did you download the helms shop manual like I mentioned above? It contains a step by step, idiot friendly procedure for installing new SHOCKS.

If your OEM front SHOCKS have no bump stop, then yes they have been tampered with. They were positively removed at some point, I have never heard of a Honda that did not come with bump stops.

You can purchase bump stops from Autozone, Advance Autoparts, ORiley's, etc.

What im thinking is that ill reuse my rear bumpstops and transfer my ones supplied by tociko to the front.

Or how do you feel about cutting the ones i have from tokico in half for all four shocks?

Thanks
