Default Replaced passenger side axle major problem

Last night I replaced my passenger side axle for my Honda Accord 1994 Lx w/ ABS.

I replaced the axle because it was completely ripped and I ordered it from Autohausaz.com

After taking out the axle, I put the new one back in, and it seemed as if it wasn't flushed against the tranny at all. I kept pushing it and pushing it and it was no go, so I looked on the driver side and I was able to slide my finger between the axle wall and the tranny wall so I figured it was okay for the passenger side to be like this. I tightened everything back together along with the 36mm axle nut of course.

I reversed out of the garage and it seemed fine, made steering turns etc. Drove half a block down, I heard a loud clunk and then the car wouldn't move anymore. If I tried to accelerate, the speedometer would move, but no power were given to the wheels.

Then I put it park, and the grinding continued for a good 5 seconds and I shut off the car.

What could have went wrong? I did not take it apart yet.

Do you guys think my brand new axles are gone? Do you guys think my tranny went bad?

Please help...Thanks

it sounds like you may not have popped the axle fully into place and the axle actually popped out...check them and put them back in...use a mallet on the end and tap lightly to seat it in there but hopefully you didnt do any damage to the axles or tranny

sounds like the axle may not have been fully inserted into the tranny and popped out during test run.. just take it apart and find out what went wrong.

thanks guys will do. i just hope i do not have to buy another axle, that would really suck.

i tried searching through various honda tech articles about replacing axle from current to archive threads,

do you guys have any suggestions of how i should put the axle back in. i have a clip at the end of the axle, is that clip suppose to clip onto something?

and i should use the mallet and tap it very lightly on where the axle nut sits correct?

Thanks in advance. I really want to make sure this job gets done right again without me going through hell pushing the car around the block again. Thanks

Axle popped out.

I put the hub over the end of it and pushed hard as hell, it should pop into place.

Just helped neverignorant do this, everything went fine, We used a hub puller and set it against the axle nut and just kept turning it until it the axle seated itself in. Thanks everyone for helping him out and me.
