Drivers Side axle stuck in spindle
i'm in the very early steps of taking out my engine. i removed my passenger axle no problem, but when i got to the drivers side, when i tried to tap it out, its stuck. the axle splines are seized or something. anyway, i can't tap the axle out and i really need to remove it. Any suggestion? is this symtomatic of having a bad spindle? thanks for the help, i just want to know whats the deal.

acutally if its really rusted then it'll get stuck in there.....take a good look at it, if its really rusted out then spray some Knock'er Loose on it and let it soak in for a few hours. Be carefuel not to damage the tranny case while your at it.

my friend had the same problem. What i did was bought a crpasmen malet from sears. What you do is, put your back towards the fender, and bend over a little and mack the axle to push it loose. It sounds kinda funny but you get a stronger hit that way. try using some wd40 also, to loosen it up...

beat it out of there.. be sure not to mess up the threads if you plan to re-use it... Make sure you have a big mini-sledge cuz you can beat it and beat with a little hammer and it wont do any good besides mess up the threads but a couple good wacks with a hammer that has some weight should push it out

dont beat on it! ur gonna make it mushroom on the end and itll be more stuck then ever.try heating up the splines with a propane torch then lightly tap it out.

try spraying it with some pb-blaster another form of wd-40. wait at least 15-20 mins and use a mallet and hit the end. be carefull not to mushroom the end of the axle. thats should do the trick. thats what i ended up doing on my axle and it was pretty rusty.

My friend had that problem on his passenger side. He was even using an air-hammer on it and it wouldn't come out. Spraying WD-40 and soaking it didn't do anything either. Used a torch to heat thing up....no use.
A week later, tried again.....poped right out....WD-40 must have worked its way in.
Just let some penetrating lube soak in there for a while...overnight would be good if you have time, then try again.

ok this happened at work today trying to get an axle out of an oddyssey. pull out one side and when you get it out look into the hole on the tranny. you have to play with the C-clip on the alxe and it will come right out

alright thanks.
sorry about the confusion guys, but the axle is stuck in the spindle, not the transmission.

exxxactly, a good heavy one and it should jar loose with just a couple good smacks from the hammer.

Place a slat of wood between a large-headed rubber mallet or sledge and the splines (be sure to leave the nut on the end) and pound away after lubricating it.
