oil type
hey guys im a little new to hondas and i have been wondering if its ok to use fully synthetic oil in my b16a2? It has around 100k on the motor and is burning a little bit of oil.. I probably need new rings. I usually use 75,000 mile valvoline oil.. (non-synt) would my car run better? Is it better for my motor or no? I just hate that its burning oil and as of now i dont have the time to replace the rings.. i know additives can make your car run better.
p.s. i searched this and couldnt find much about it sorry.
oh and it only burns when i hit vtec.

If you're burning oil with non-synthetic oil, your going to burn with synthetic as well. You could try like that engine restore stuff, but who knows if it will work.
no no no dont put that crap (as in motor restor) in your b16. my 98 accord burns a little bit of oil and one of my buddies works at a honda shop and told me to use valvolen dura-blend, its a synthetic blend and i dont burn any oil any more. if you start running full synthetic it might expose oil leaks in your b16 because the dino oil builds up and fills in the leaks, the synthetic is more "slippery" and will leak right through them. stick with dino oil or a synthetic blend.
Thanks guys, next oil change I'm going to go with valvoline dura blend because I used it on my other car and I used it once on my civic and it stopped burning that much..
Anyone have any other ideas as in additives?
