Finally! My teg looks the way it should! (new paint)
This will cover up the overspray on the front

Some before's and afters:

Slightly better me thinks!
Here's some pics of the side molding shaving process...
Had to remove the door panels to remove the side moldings.

On the front doors, on one end, there's a 10 mm nut that is holding the side molding on (along with the clips on the inside of the door).

Ta daa!! All off!

So, I had to sand the inside of the door, so the fiberglass had a rough surface to stick too. This is some good stuff.

After a lil sanding:

Now the drivers side moldings are removed:

And I sanded down all the residue that was left from the moldings:

By this time, my arm was starting to hurt, so I decided to make myself feel better

Giggity!
Next up I had to sand the outside. I used my lil wobble sander on it. SOoooooooo much easier than doing it by hand.

Then, it was time... I started laying the fiberglass on all the doors.

So all that went pretty good! I was sore, but hey, I was halfway done! Things were going great. The birds were singing, dandelions were blowing in the wind.. all was great!
Until I started messing with the fiberglass putty....
All Mixed up:

Applied:

I didn't use enough hardener. I applied it later Friday afternoon and the top was still tacky on saturday afternoon. SO, I went out and bought a cheap hair dryer and used it on each spot. I then scraped away some of the tacky stuff and started sanding. And it sucked. It was hard underneath the softer stuff, but getting to it was the problem. My sandpaper was clogging up, it was difficult. It sucked.
I would give up, admit defeat... then 5 mins later go right back out and start sanding some more. I sanded saturday until I was physically unable to continue sanding anymore. No exaggeration there. I couldn't do it.
So I was done sanding for the day.
BUT hey, my bumper lights had been leaking and had a lil moisture in em as well as some black stuff.. I had helped my bud remove the yello winserts on his headlights, which required heating them up in an oven and prying them apart before, so I figured I could do it again!!!
Wrong!
Before:

After!!!

Heck yesssss!
So, I've gotta buy new bumper lights
Yayyyy!!
Anyway, I left shortly after that, didn't mess with it anymore Saturday. Got home last night and finished up sanding. Here's how my car looked before. Reference above pics to see the finished product

Even though it's body work, I figure it's still tech stuff, since you see what goes into shaving the side moldings... At least one way of doing it. I suppose it's the next best way, next to welding. But even less people can do that compared to what I did.
If the dogg see's fit for it to be moved, so be it. All I know is I'm thrilled to see it finally done, and since my build thread has been in here so long, I figured it was iftting for this to have it's own lil thread
Enj0y!

Yeah, I may fix the black part.
And no, zero badges. I thought about going w/the 92-93 GSR badge though....

But I'll probably just keep it badegless. I like the clean look

I love drs. Looks good. I building one as we speak. Put the itr on hold. I'll shhot you some pic via im. Looks very good.
nice! i wish i could get a deal like that
q; is that fiberglass putty specifically to fill up holes? did you put something to hold it from inside the door, my friend should be welding holes for me but i am really concern with metal shrinking and i don't really trust his *** even though he welds for years.
if that putty stuff works great i might as well do that, plus i wont need to grind access metal and smoothing out the surface afterward

Welding is much better than putty. For closing up rust or any holes, I weld metal in. For finishing off fixing dents and such, I use putty.

$300.00  The overspray can fixed by the intercooler and some black paint and like it's been mentioned before, I can get alot of the fish eye (it's not bad, really) and any other lil imperfections out with the buffe/wetsand.

I scored the insideof the oor w/like some 80 grit sadpaper and layed fiberglass on the inside, so the putty had something to stick too. Then I used the putty nd.. wel, you se the reults.
It's not as good as welding, but from what I'vebeen told, it's the next best thing.

Most fish eyes cannot be removed with simple buffing. A fish eye is the result of oil, or some substance that does not allow the paint to cover an area. So you pretty much have just enough covering to keep rust from developing.
I would just tape off a few places (like the fenders) and go to town with some black spray cans.
