If you lower it too much yeah, but I have no problems with mine, go to tirerack.com and check out there information on "offset" also. It's some good information.
The offset is the most important piece of this puzzle. Figure out the offset and get back to us.

I don't have a '96-'00 Coupe, however; on my '94 I'm down about 3.25" in the front and it rubs on the inner fender (the plastic whether guard peice) but I've never touched the metal fender itself. Hope this helps.
